70 Barracuda Convert Project

I have a chance to pick up a 70 Barracuda convertible. It's a very plain jane 318 auto on the column car, blue on blue, with the only option being a power top. It was completely ripped apart for restoration, but the owner ran into a divorce and financial trouble. He sunk alot of money into quality sheet metal work, but it still needs alot of repair to the back half. All the replacement metal is with the car, cut off and prepped from a donor car. It's about 75 percent there, but is missing some convertible trim (boot opening stuff,maybe more) and needs fenders, hood, grille. Has a good title, but the fender tag and buildsheet got lost. I see they repaired the cowl area from the donor car, and the cowl number no longer matches the rad support and VIN plate. What are your thoughts regarding what this project may be worth?

I would say within 10 to 15 thousand. Without pics its hard to say.

I only had two pictures that turned out halfway decent.  The back half of the car has not had any work done to it, and is rusty.  Needs frame rails, etc, but nice parts from a donor car are included.  These parts include rust free original quarters, wheel wells, and frame rails.  Will need to buy floors, fenders, hood.

I would say 10k would be a good offer, if you can do the metal work yourself. If it goes to ebay, it might bring 15k. The numbers being off will hurt it, including no fender tag. Does the dash pad have the vin tag on it?

The VIN tag is on the dash, and the sticker is on the door.

It would strongly depend on what condition all the little trinket and stainless bits are like aswell

Well, my interest is waning.  I went to look at it again, and found that the title apparently has a typo --- the whole number is the same but the last digit. It's supposed to be a "9" but the title has a "0".  If that wasn't bad enough -- when they did repair work, they changed the cowl and the cowl number is different.  The radiator support still matches. With the car obviously cut and welded, ripped into a million parts, and so on, I can't imagine getting this title issue straight would be particularly easy.

I would stay away from that one. More hassle than its worth.
