R/T S/E Challenger Pictures Wanted
« on: August 13, 2008 - 01:29:49 PM »
Anyone have any pictures of a 1970 Dodge Challenger  R/T S/E and information, as we have found a possible one in a barn, and need confirmation of certain parts, ie badges, wheel combos, hoods, thanks  :icon16:

Not sure if you wanted pictures or info on how to tell if it is legit. If you are trying to see if it is a real R/T SE, you can simply look at the first four digits of the VIN....it should be JS29. If it is a 383-4 then the fifth digit will be an N, for a 440-4 a U, for a 440-6 a V, and for a Hemi an R.

All SEs should have the two badges on the roof, the smaller rear window, stainless trim on the top of the doors and around the back of the hood, stainless trim around the front valance license plate opening, a filler panel between the trunk and rear tail lights, and an overhead console.

As for the R/T part, it should be a big block, have a rallye cluster, a front sway bar, a power bulge hood, a valance with cutouts(most of the time), and some sort of insignia that it is an R/T (stripe or badges). If it is a Hemi or 6-pack car there are a couple more things you can check.

I like that description.  The only thing I am missing is the lower front valence chrome.  Bananaskin...., visit my website, there are about 40+ chapters covering 4 years of resto work.   This will answer most of your questions.     Good luck and of course..... :useless:

We think it may have had a multi-colour paint job at some point. You can also see the Dodge Wording on the rear OF side wing. The owner has had it for 20years so hopefully its low milage

We were in search of a Rallye Hood as well  8)

looks like you have a RT/SE there.... pics inside?

hood gap could be anything from 383 Magnum, 383 Four Barrel, 440 Magnum .....etc

Those are all the pictures we have, will be arranging a visit at some point, go with trailer and cash  :naughty:

I just thought those i.e. 440 Four Barrel was too long for the bleached bit of paint where the emblem was.  :screwy:

Rough is right.  Don't let the clown see it..............But may be worth the effort.
