I hate to do this but I'm calling the following members out that have NOT followed through with their end of the group wiring harness buy from Ron Francis and are fouling things up for the rest of the members and any other future group buys from RON FRANCIS or group buys in general.  Ron is generous enough to offer a 20% discount and each member had time to check out the product and decide if they wanted in or not. Heck you even have the opportunity to use your own credit card and pay direct to Ron instead of having a middle man collecting cash!!!

I received solid confirmation from the following members that indeed wanted harnesses but have not kept their end of the deal!

Mike Murphy 2 harnesses
fantum

Chris Zigrossi 1 harness
challengerx

Tom Pate 1 harness
70_challenger

Scott Sumpter 1 harness

Shame on you guys! :clueless:

I talked with Bob at Ron Francis wiring, and after in depth conversations, we decided this wasn't the best route for me to take with my wiring needs.

I will say they were extremly nice and helpfull during our conversation

Bob at RFW told me to take my time to make sure I get all the parts I need , and then ship it in one box to me....( I`m on the other side of the planet.....)
point is if I have to ship it in 2 or 3 times I am better of not participating in this deal and pay in full when it suites me...
I`m not very much into car electronics and just now started thinking about what to do for wiring/dash/switches and all that...  I understand your frustration about this, but you I don`t like seeing my name up here one bit.   Since I don`t want to be remembered as "the guy that didn`t stick to his part of the deal "  I`ve asked Bob to sent me a quote for just the harness and shipping and I will have it payed next week.  Thank you for setting up this deal, but I wish you would be more carefull throwing names around.

Bart

:2thumbs:              :iagree:                       Yer still ok in my book Bart          If you have trouble with one of your harnesses, feel free to ask for help/solutions. For he most part, they are easly gotten or repaired

I can vouch for Bart and i recognise him as a straight shooter and a stand up guy.   It is super hard doing dealings when one does not live in the country trying to build a car that was never offered in the country they live in where ever it may be.
Just sounds like a misunderstanding and he has gone ahead and rectified this dealing on his own behalf, if you have a problem with someone not holding true to their dealings you should direct it at them and leave the innocent parties out.
Clearly Bart is not happy having his name associated in this posting.  Just my two cents as i know Bart well.....

group buys in general rarely work out. What usually happens is one guy wants to buy something, then trys to get a few other people to go in with them and get a better deal. Everyone seems interested and promises to buy one, two, three sets, etc. Vendor goes ahead and offers a group buy price, then maybe 25% of the people promising come through. Totally not cool to call them out on it. It would be one thing if the vendor came through with a group buy based on sales promises, then called the members out on it when they didn't come through. However you should not be suprised to find out people don't always come through on group buys. Most vendors will do a group sale to one person, and let them handle the group buy. Trying to let individuals deal with a vendor directly on a group buy rarely work out. The vendor offers deep discounts before the sales are actually there.

Just went back and reread the group buy thread. Looks like 5 buys met the minimum. From the listing above there are three confirmed, plus your original order. Hopefully at least one other person came through before being called out so the group buy is covered?

:iagree: Especially when you've got so few posts and laying it on a couple semi-veterans.. This should have been dealt with Privately, it gives out a bad name.

I would have continued with the buy, but it wasn't the right thing for my needs.  I guess I should have contacted RF prior to the purchase date, when I did they asked a lot of questions and we determined this wasn't the best for my needs.

I do apologize to the other members for not completing the transaction, but if you have something to say, say it to me not to the board, after that if you still have a negative opinion, feel free to post it wherever you so desire.

Sorry dudes, I think it always better to go it alone! Nothing worse than this scenario playing out! At least alone you control the destiny!
Man, maybe I'm a control freak!
 :dunno:

ps: if you didn't put out like you said you would, s**t happens!, no need to call em out though! For some points in savings? The oldest trick in the sales book!

This thought may not be politically correct, but is an opinion offered. It may be correct? or it may be wrong? It is not designed to appease those needing shelter from the real world.

Calling Out" is just a phrase. I posted my buy idea and members responded openly and publicly on the forum and gave confirmation that they were in on the buy. But 2 weeks after the BUY Date and an email from RF with the excuses of each member as to why they weren't purchasing and following through, I responded openly on the board just as everything was done from the start. This is an open forum isn't it?
Just for the record, my discount was exactly the same as everyone else and I had no hidden agenda here! I'm restoring a car and thought I could benefit all of us that might be needing a wire kit with a discount by presenting a "group buy" to Ron Francis. He graciously accepted the idea but it doesn't work if members make excuses when it comes to following through! It's just simple business folks! Everything about this board is based on an open forum. Should we protect some members from potential "embarrassment" by keeping dirty laundry in the closet? Anyone that says yes should be working on the Hill in Washington DC!
I've learned a lesson that as some of you have stated...GROUP BUYS don't work. But the only reason they don't work is because of the reasons already stated...

I watched this group by post from the begining. We have had other group buys here in the past. They were different then the way this one was set up, and seemed to go ok.

The other group buys were not set up by someone needing the particular part as well and wanting a discount. Usually a vender will annonce one, give a time limit, collect the money and send parts when the quota is reached.  This is usually around a 30 day or month option.

This group buy seemed like it was being pushed and with a sales pitch, not like the usual types.  Group buys work nice when there is enough people actually wanting an item in a timely manner.

I really believe that if it wasnt for you wanting a discount for your own project, that this would of went more smoothly and not seem to pushy.  Also harsh words like calling members out makes them feel like they are loosers and not trusting members. When it comes to wiring and it is not an exact repro, it can get a little confusing to some.

This may be an open forum, but it is with registered members. No contracts are signed, some have other issues with time and also delays in the project building. I believe a certain percentage of who will buy and who changes their mind is a factor when the buy was so small.  So it seemed normal to me a couple would choose not to buy for their own reasons.

There is a difference in a member making a decision on his own and commiting / to a member being persuaded into something they may need on a later date. Any item that is a good item and is needed to be bought soon will sell quickly without the sales pitch. It would have more direct questions asked then remarks made.

A post question is less aggressive sounding then a phrase of embarrassment .  Like     Is there a problem with my group buy guys?   Then you could of gotten answer instead of remarks.  I just think timing was off on this buy and a little pushy for another mans gains as well.  Are you going to get your discount or do you have to pay full price.

We have good members here. No matter how this buy turns out. And they can still be trusted in my eyes

not cool calling members names out ..........  :2cents:

Not cool at all.  I spoke to Bob for quite a while on the phone, and he suggested that I should take a look at their paper catalog before placing an order, since the difference in kits was not apparent.  I've been waiting two weeks for that catalog to arrive...

I appreciate you putting together this deal, but calling out names like this, without knowing the situation, is really not appreciated at all.

I, too, spoke with Bob.  He told me he needed to know specifics regarding my builds and that he would be sending me a catalog as well.  Have yet to see the catalog.

I have not backed out on the order, just waiting to confirm specific needs/wiring harness availability with Bob.

P.S.  I wasn't aware that anyone was keeping tabs on the situation or I would have reported the events as they had transpired.
