I've always had a soft spot for Pontiacs.  This is my second Firebird and my daily driver.

All Pontiac motors from 1964- 1977 were big block motors.   Including, 326,350,389,400,421,428,455.  They are all big blocks and all have interchangable parts.  Some 1978's had big blocks but most in that year were victims of the emissions change over.  401 oldsmobiles and some other crappy chevy motors.
I have spent lots of time with Pontiacs, just love the way they drive!

Huh.  Just goes to prove you learn something everyday.   I never would have thought of a 350 as a big block.  I even have trouble thinking of a 361 'B' as a big block.  Are there small-block BOP motors?

I don't have any pictures but my first Pontiac was a 1965 2+2 with a 421 engine. I owned 2 68 firebirds years ago and 1 of them were 400 4-speed firebird and one 69 which was a 400 4-speed. I even had a 66 catilina with a 389 and it shifted out of second into drive at 110 mph when you were into it hard. My first new car which was ordered in 1976 was ordered a sleeper 400 4-speed close ratio with spoiler, no console, rally wheels, AC, and loads of other options without getting a Trans Am. I kept all the original paper work when I traded it in on a new Dodge in 1979 and still have it today. I still have a spot saved for a GTO Judge but have never owned one.

My first two honest to decent cars were a 82, and then later an 86 Gran Prix. NICE cars, but a bad era for engines. The '82 was a V-6 that couldn't out run me.    The 86 had the 305 that was fine around town, but that thing would downshift going up mountains BIG time. Maybe it was the Quadra-bog carb holding those 145 ponies back.

They were all big blocks in those years, with the exception of the sprint 6.  Fast motor for a 6.
Speaking of delorean.  Did you know that the 69 Grand Prix interior was totally designed by delorean.  This was as I understand his last American made car that he helped design.  I think he may have had something to do with a car or two in the 80's.  The interior is totally like a cockpit.  One of the coolest interiors out there.
I purchased my 69 GP to take the 428 out and put it into my 67 LeMans GTO.  I drove by it for over a year and finally stopped and asked about it.  I got it for 1500.00.  Drove it home 45 miles.  On the way home, it drove so smooth and nice, I decided that I couldn't take the original engine out of the car.  I love the car.  I can drive it with one finger at 110 miles per hour.  One of the smoothest cars I have ever driven.  Not to mention it will smoke the tires like they aren't even there.  All that with 323 gears and automatic.

I guess I am an odd ball here. My Dad never owned anything but a Mopar and the same for me.

A Judge and a Charger?  :eek7:  Sorry, there is no comparison. :grinno:
I would rather own a Ford before a GM.  :stirpot:

I had a 67 Lemans sprint 3 speed and thought my dad was going to kick my can. Just kidding he was always supportive but loved his MOPARS. The 67 OHC Sprint was 230CI and 230HP. Man they would scream and great stop light to stop light. They also had a great back seat :roflsmiley:

I learned to drive in my Dad's '75 Ventura

I use to have a '72 Ventura...loved that car...person who bought it modified it and it races at tracks around here now!!

Mom got herself a Pontiac Laurentian convertible which was pretty much Canada's answer to the Catalina...she "street raced" with that car always remember her saying to us kids way in the back seat "don't tell your father" loooooool It had great pickup and she loved to as she called it "zaph it" off the lights. She'd sit at the lights...look at the car next to her they would exchange some invisible nod and when the light turned green...away we'd go...she won most all starts from the lights...

There was a hill on the way downtown...she'd always boot it over the hill...we loved it and always begged her to take us downtown. She'd sometimes warn us to hang on or surprise us not telling us we were nearing the hill...us kids would sometimes hit the roof as we flew over it...it was fuuuuuuuuuuuuuun !!

To this day she still likes to rev a little and "zaph it" off the lights...I tell her she's gonna get a stunting or street racing ticket some day!! And she still buys her cars judging from the pick up it has

I love them.  66 GTO is the most beautiful car GM ever made, and probably ever will make.

I am working on a '66 right now.  Tiger Gold, black vinyl top, tripower, TH-350, A/C, PB, PW, PA.  I would love to get a '69 Judge or Judge clone even.
