I shredded my first set of motor mounts!!!
« on: August 15, 2008 - 12:17:27 AM »
So I just started WOT tuning my car using my LC-1 wideband ( which has made tuning much easier for carb challenged me) and I've managed to tear the brand new mounts after two or three launches.  I plan on getting a set of interlocking mounts, but am unsure on using rubber or poly.  I had poly mounts on my other car and they drove me up a wall it rattled so much.  Mancini sells poly and rubber mounts with an interlock, anybody used either of these?  I am particularly curious about the rubber ones because they should dampen just as good as stock and lock up solid on accel.  I also plan on running a torque strap as an additional precaution along with the new mounts.  Also, I have the screw adjustable pinion snubber and seem to have lost the poly bumper for it.  Anybody know where to get this, or a decent substitute.  Thanks again for the help!

I have the mancini rubber interlock, haven't broken them yet and no rattling.  I tried poly trans mount and it was too stiff for me.

If you use a good strap (not Schumacher), stock cheap rubber is fine. If you use an interlocking mount, buy rubber, dont wast time with the strap.

Cool, I'll have to order a set then.  Now all I need to do is find a replacement bumper for my pinion snubber.

The internet's a wonderful place. Actually doing a lot of work on fast cars, realy can open ones eyes. I'm definately not on the "everybody" list. My stuff breaks the cheesy bracket they hook the strap to the engine with. Poor design if your car can really load the LH mount.

Well I'm currently planning on interlocking mounts AND the torque strap on a 550(est)hp setup - so from what the web has taught me so far, I should be okay.

Thanks for the additional insight.

Like I said, you only need the mounts. you'll never even load the strap if you use the mounts.

can anyone confirm that I won't lose any fillings if i buy the rubber interlock mounts? would it still be suggested that i buy a poly trans mount or rubber?

I have the Interlocking mounts on my 416 and they are very livable. I also have the poly trans mount on my 904 and I highly recommend both. :2thumbs:

(Now there'll be 10 posts about how bad they suck.... )
