Yehaaaaaa New Job!
« on: April 05, 2004 - 12:49:37 AM »

Yehaaa just thought I'd let you lads know I got a new job closer to home.  :D ;D

It's working at a new work saftey place, work boots, jackets, eye wear etc called Protector Safety.
It's sooooo cruisie! People call in with there orders and I go around the "factory" ticking off the sheet filling it in for them. It's mostly for big work sites etc, then I cruise around to the site and drop it off for them.  :D

Pays well and is 45 hours a week, NO WEEKEND WORK!!  :D
So I can forget the farm hand and start to save some serious $$$, hopefully get myself a nice new house in the very near future, has to have a huge garage!!!! LOL!!

I'm over the moon!  8) :D

Thats all........

So what are they paying you?? That was one of the biggest factors on me taking my newest job... a pay increase... took a $1.50 raise to leave the food industry and move to hospitality!!! :o :D One of my best choices EVER!! ;)

Cool thanks mate, there paying $8 USD, sheesh that looks bad! But it's NZ $12.50  ;D Not the best of pay but it's just so cruisie!!!  ;) But at the moment there kind of getting underway, stock shelves etc. It s a brand new store and at the moment there are 3 other guys about my age that I know of who will be working with me. We start next week, so I'm looking forward to it, I know one of the guys from Rugby so It should be funny and time will pass quick with me and him joking around, he was at the interview before me. The good thing is it's not far from my Mums house (5 minute drive) so I'm not paying board LOL! Well, not at the moment.  ;D

How long have you been working? And doing what? Sorry if your already posted it which from memory you have, but I forgot.  :)

Well man... I started working the summer of 2001... end of June I started at Dairy Queen (local ice cream place)... free ice cream, but a seasonal job, so that ended the end of October... took me a month to find another job, and that was at Boston Market ("fast food" made-to-order)... VERY good food, but such a rushed atmosphere that it gets really hectic at times... worked there for 9 months then decided to try other options... my friend got me a job at Walgreen's (nationally known drug and retail store)... that's the most soviet company known to exsist as they could give a rat's arse about what you (the employee) thinks... 4 months of torture there and I walked out on my manager (she was a ***** anyways).... went unemployeed for a month and a half then finally found a job at Jiffy Lube (quickie oil change place)... everything was going great there until my manager got transfered and the new management didn't like the opinions of the "veterans" and cleaned out the place... (right now, that place is in the ****ter trying to recover from stupid management).... so, once again, I went jobless for about a month, then, one afternoon, my buddy and I went into Boston Market for lunch, my manager saw me, asked where I was working, I told her I need a job, and volia! had my old job back..... worked there for almost another 9 months until the beginning of March this year when my current manager came into Boston Market, saw my work, liked it so much that she said she wanted me at her place... so I got some info about the job, found out it paid higher then were I was and I had less work to do (gotta love America for that!! :D)... so, I've been at my new job, Residence Inn Hotel (a Marriott product) for just over 4 weeks now and I'm LOVING IT!!! Oh, it pays $8.50 an hour... :P :P :P :P

My mom and I were talking about how many DIFFERENT places I've worked, and in my 18 years of being alive, I've worked and volunteered at more places then she has in her 47 years... :o :o :o Guess I've got one good resume brewing!!!

don`t get me started ... I was making $7.50 / hr as a locksmith back in 1980 , last year I was offered just under $10 /hr as a journeyman 24 years later & better qualified , I laughed at him & told him 7-11 paid 8.50 / hr with better benefits . Meanwhile a locksmith in Las Vegas needed me very badly & offered me over 60K / year us[ $100,000 can ] to do the same job but cannot get me a green card
 Congrats on the job NZ

Thanks lads, my $8.00 doesn't sound to bad but is pretty good for what I'm doing, in New Zealand dollars it's good enough $12.50 and it can only get better. Minimum wage is $10 for an adult (18 years or older) in New Zealand.  :)

Now on to saving myself some serious dosh!!! Cop mags here I come!................... :D 8)

What the heck, why can't you get a green card?  Particularly when you have a job lined up. Worst case you could always fly to mexico and walk across  ;D
