Hello from Richmond, VA
« on: August 19, 2008 - 03:34:22 PM »
Just found the forum, and I'm lovin' it.  I have a '70 Barracuda that is trying to be an AAR clone.  I might be able to help it along.  Runs well now, 340 with a 727.  Plans are for a resto mod, thinkin' XV level 1 suspension, with either a gear vendor or just doing a Kesler 5 spd.  Needs paint when I can swing that as well.  I love sublime but there's too many of them around, so I'll probably go Mango.  Thanks folks.

Welcome.

The car looks sweet. I don't think you can go wrong with either color you are considering.

I, too, like the current color.  You definitely do not see many Cudas with this color, let alone AARs (and their clones).

Plus, if your interior is in good shape, the original color would be a good match for it.

Good luck with the car, and as has been said before,   :useless:  WE NEED MORE PICS!!!!!

Man, you guys are great.  The color is stock mopar Autumn Bronze, and yeah, it's a cool color and not that common.  (I did see and take a picture of a real AAR in that color at Carlisle last month though!).  The car is going to need a new paint job, there are chips and the body work was not done right, really shows in the engine compartment.  I've always just thought that the "Impact" colors did such a great job of showing off the e-bodies, so it seemed like I should go with an impact color....you know....the whole "life-size hot wheel" thing that make the ebods so cool to begin with.  As this is not a stock/matching car never can be (originally a 318), it seems the right path to take it on is a resto-mod strategy, which perhaps should cause me to consider other non-stock colors.   Anyone seen House of Kolor Tangerine Pearl?  That with an AAR Theme!

Thank you guys for the kind welcome, the ebody is a dream car for us, always been my favorite, and I really am looking to do this right.  I will take some more pics as soon as I change the spoiler out.  The interior is in very good shape, was redone not too long ago.  Speedo reads about 20MPH too high, gas gauge doesn't ever go to empty (empty reads about 1/3 full), and lots of other little issues need to be addressed.  But boy, we love it and really really enjoy it.  I've got 2 twin boys, 10 years old and the whole idea was to approach this together.  They already know it's "their car"!

Tim

When I post more pics, should I do them here or in the pics section?

Yes, I'll definitely be at the Mopar show on Saturday.  Looking forward to it!  Probably won't drive the Cuda though, it's a fur a'piece down the road....

Let me know if you are exhibiting or anything!

I can't make it Saturday, but will be there Sunday.  I won't have my car either too far to drive with 4:10 gears.  Your speedo & gas gauges sound just like mine lol  I know my speedo is because they changed out the rear end ratio & didn't change the speedo gear.

I am located about 30 min. from richmond and I haven't seen this car around. You must keep it well hidden. You should bring it to the saturday night cruise in. Here's the info.

Every Saturday night cruise into Brunetti’s at the intersection of 301 and Atlee Rd in Mechanicsville. We are there every Saturday night throughout the year weather permitting. The fun starts at 3:00pm until 8:30pm. Come in and enjoy some good Italian food and a very friendly atmosphere. Shop at the Dollar General. Go to the Library, but most of all bring your antique car, muscle car, street rods, hot rods, motorcycle or what ever classic that you have. Fre-Ray Sounds will be there to play your favorite oldies. During the summer months Brunetti’s has a drawing for gift certificates. Only those that bring a car are eligible for the drawing. Spectators are welcome. Come out and enjoy looking at all of the beautiful cars. We hope to see you there soon!

I'll be at the show this weekend but will be in a silver daytona pickup.

Seamus: welcome and beautiful car.

All: where is the show this weekend you guys are talking about. I'm about 3 hours from Richmond, but I'm in need of a car fix
