As pointed out, there are actually a lot more '70-'71 cars then there are '72-74's. In fact if you look at the Challenger production #'s

1970=76,935
1971=26,299
1972=22,919
1973=27,930
1974=11,354

you find out that there are actually more '70 challengers than '72-74 challengers combined, with total production for all 3 years at 60,572. So there should be more '70-'71 owners on here, just on statistics.

As far as the Challengers go, I like the '70 and '71 grilles better, '71 is actually my favorite. But like a lot of folks I actually like the '72 to '74 tail lights better. And for the cuda's I think the '72-'74 models look the best, love the round tail lights! The '71 grille is my favorite again, but only by a little. And I actually don't like the '70 cuda grille.

I agree with most folks in that the '72-'74 cars get a bad rap due to the lack of the big block and special models (R/T, T/A, AAR). But the collectors have gone nuts over the earlier cars, and a lot of those hi-perf models are just unattainable ($100k plus) for regular middle class folk.

I like my '72, and although I may change it over to a '71 front end, it'll still be cheaper to do that than it would be for me to buy a '71 in the same condition. And sadly enough, I have had my Challenger mistaken for a Camaro! :sly:

Guys
 I like certain things about each one  so I have collected one of each body style 70,71 and a couple 73s . When you look at them all together each is really sharp in there own right.
 As far as the 1971 cudas and the prices I think we overlook a big factor in 1970 about 18,880 cudas wer built  in 1971 only about 6,228 cudas were produced . It is supply and demand if you are looking at it  (which I do not ) as an investment there were 3 1970 cuda built for every 1 1971 cuda produced.
 1971 must have been a bad year for auto makes all models seem to have very low production numbers.
 1971 was also the last year the cudas were available with a big block ( except that one 1972 hemi cuda legend I read about on here ) . Alot of real neat options disappeared on the 1972 model also . No shakers , on rear window louvers , on fog lights and  the list goes on and on .
  I believe the 1972-74 cars are still muscle cars in comparision to the 1975  and newer cars but they I M O are not the same level of muscle cars as the 70-71.
  Do to the lower resale of the 72 - 74 cars  my 73 cars will get some slight comfortability / driveability modification my 70 and 71 car will stay alittle purer to original .
  I love them all but bottom line if you 72 - 74 owners what to me the 70 -71 owners at the track then afterwards you should meet them at the auction house . So who real wins ?

'73 Challenger owner here. :2thumbs:  Sure, I would have preferred to have a '71 R/T, but this one just kind of fell into my lap in '02-'03 and I've never looked back since. :cheers:  As mentioned, each year had something unique and IMO gives each one its distinct characters that some love, while leaving others less satisfied (though I'm sure other '73 ('74, too) owners can agree on removing those 5-mph impact rubber bumperettes :eek4:).
1973 Dodge Challenger......................The ongoing project. (00/----\00)
1991 Dodge Stealth R/T Twin-Turbo....The sunny day cruiser (RTBoost)
1990 Toyota Celica GT Liftback...........The new daily & winter driver.
All-American Muscle: 'Cudas and Challengers...Still the Elite and always will be.
