Need a pic of rear sway bar with factory dual exhaust
« on: August 21, 2008 - 08:12:22 AM »
Anyone got a picture of a factory rear sway bar installed with the complete exhaust system in place? Not sure if I need to remove my over the axle pipes and mufflers to mount the system or not. Not much room to work with after installing my new dana 60. This is on a 70 barracuda, so I am dealing with the right emergency brake cable and also the rear rubber brakeline to the axle. Seems tight to fit

Sorry, but I do not have a picture, but, I will be heading to the muffler shop tomorrow to put the back half of my exhaust back on after installing a rear sway bar last week.  It will depend on where the exhaust turns up over the rear axle.  If it's turns up too early (like mine did), it will have to be modified.  The best way to tell is to just try to slide the bar in place and see if it will go all the way through.

Alan I removed mine with all of this in place, except probably the shocks, so it's possible. I recall having to weave it out. I think the bar goes below the rubber brake line.

I added the stock rear sway bar setup to my 70 with all that stuff in place.  It was a tight fit, and kind of a pain, but much less hassle than dropping the exhaust IMHO.

I'm home now Wade and will be getting started again soon. That looks like the same car I was getting my picture from. I believe it is right. Thanks for the help. I had to stop and buy 5 rt hand lugs for my rims since the dana is all right hand thread. Mine were lft and rt with the 8.75 rear

Unfortunately I had no option.  My exhaust was put on last year before I had plans for a sway bar, and the muffler shop bent the pipes up over the axle closer to the front of the wheel well than what probably would be stock, so there was absolutely no way for us to get the sway bar in without cutting the pipes.  We had to cut them right where they came out of the mufflers.  No biggee other than one extra trip to the muffler shop.

Those are pictures I took right after I installed the sway bar.  I am pretty sure it was installed correctly, and it sure mad a difference when I push the car hard around corners.

Took a look at my car & the sway bar would go above the exhaust, the rubber brake line I'm not sure but it appears theat it would be below the brake line, if you can eyeball it straight from the side I'm sure you will be able to tell.
