Hooker Header ?
« on: August 21, 2008 - 12:08:23 PM »
I have Hooker Super Comp headers for my car,I traded them for some trans work three years ago. I have never seen a driver side header that the front suspension did not go thru the header tubes, has any one ever had a header like this on an E body driver side?

These are what I have always seen:

I have those on mine and the drag link doesn't go through the pipes. I believe they are the 5115's

By the way, what do you all do about this info given on the Hooker site? I am gonna have to break in my new Voodoo cam and only have this set of headers. :eek7:

Installation Notes

Breaking in an engine with ceramic coated Headers WILL result in damage to the coating and will VOID all warranties. Ceramic coated Headers require several heat cycles to fully cure before they will withstand extreme heat. Hooker recommends using cast iron exhaust Manifolds or old Headers to break in new engines to avoid coating damage. Please call Hooker tech service at 270–781–9741 for additional information regarding ceramic coated exhaust products.

generally I have not hurt them as long as you get the timing advanced immediatly & adjust the mixtures to be sure it is not lean while doing the break in , usually I can tell if the engine needs larger jets during the break in if the engine smooths out with the mixture screwws turned out during the break in & need to be adjusted in at idle

They fit fine in mine and I have power steering. Even the mini-starter drops right out if it ever needs to be changed.

the bad part is it still traps #5&7 plugs with the pipe over the top

That sounds encouraging!  :clapping:

I can live with that!  :grinyes:

They are a $700 set of headers that I got for $300 trade in trans work.
