Barracuda found
« on: August 25, 2008 - 09:18:32 PM »
Hello All,

I am new to the site but recently came accross what I believe is a 1974 Barracuda. The car is sitting at an abandon house. I know Plymouth made Barracuda's in 1974 but did they make 'Cuda's in 1974? If so would a 'Cuda' emblem be on the back tail panel like in 1970-1971? I plan on taking some pics tomorrow and will post them as soon as I can. Thnx.

Yes, there were 'Cudas in '74.  And I think there should be an emblem on the tailpanel, too.  Most likely will have a 360.  I'm not sure if the 318 was available in a 'Cuda, but I think it was.

Pics would be cool.

And welcome!

Yes, 72-74 Cuda's came with either the 318 or 360 engines.

Right
Plymouth made 'CUDAs from '69 to '74.  As far as E-bodies are concerned the '70 to '74 cars VIN numbers start BS23 for Hartops and BS27 for (convertibles '70 and '71 only)

Barracudas have VINs that start BH23 or BH27  and GrandCoupes start BP23 or BP27.

An easy way to spot a '74 is the seatbelts. Modern seatbelts that have two retractors on the floor so the shoulder and lap belts retract.

If it has a single shoulder belt bolted to the roof it's a '73 or below

All 'CUDAs 1972 to 1974 were available with 318s  :clueless:

Welcome

That's correct, the biggest motor you could get before that was a 340.

That's right.  For some reason, I thought that the 340 was replaced in 72.

Hi barrcudaguy! Welcome!

Would love to see pics of what you found!  :grinyes:
1972 Dodge Challenger Rallye 340, AT, Code TB3=Super Blue, SBD=8/17/1971.  Yes, a Rallye without the fender louvers from the factory because of the body side molding option.
