Are you absolutely sure that 318's were available all three years?
I thought that 74 was the only year model that the cuda was available with a 318.

Yes you could get a 318 cuda all three years. I have personally seen examples of all three years.

A 318 'CUDA is cool though because it comes with all the goodies like the front and rear swaybars, special chrome, hood ect.


I have a '73 'CUDA 318 and a '73 Barracuda 340. Interestingly, the Barracuda is a A51 car so it has the double bump hood and rocker molding.  Neither one of them came with rallye gauges.

Easy way to tell any stock 318 'CUDA is no callout emblems on the hood. 'CUDA318 would look stupid

Of course I'm just talking about round taillight BS code cars only

You could get 318's in any of the years from 1970 to 1974,  there were more options available back then and you could buy most anything you wanted.  I worked a a cpd dealership and saw things that most have not seen.  I have owned most every year of Barracuda and cuda and challenger at one time or another.  Gordon

Alot of owners over look the 318 for its potential of HP. I have a Mopar Muscle magazine issue that went into detail on how to get 450+ HP out of them. They're not weak blocks by any means either and they wind up very well.

I would love to see someone do a build up on one to show what it can do.

318 Cuda...that's an oxymoron

Over the years, I've owned far more barracudas with 318's than any other engine. The 318's don't stay in them for long though.

Ok...    I thought I saw not a 318 Cuda, but a slant 6 Cuda in one of the Mopar mags a few years back.  Waas that a glitch or a made up car?

I think theres a lot of wrong info in this thread. I've seen and owned a lot of cudas and 1974 was the only year that I've ever seen a 318 in a Cuda...Barracuda, yes,...Cuda, no.  I would like to see a 72 or 73 vin that shows a BS23 with a G code. Chrysler had pretty much given up on the cuda platform before 1974 even rolled around and they no longer cared about performance image or anything else. Don't even go there with a slant six Cuda.

I can tell you for a fact that I owned a numbers matching 1973 318 Cuda.

Definitely the most 318 'CUDAs were built in '74 but altogether Plymouth built lots of them
