So I put a new quarter on my 73 Chally last month and in the process of blending/finishing I see that the trunk pan extension lip is shorter than the quarter panel lip (behind the rear tire at the bottom). A family member sent me a pic of his all orginal 74 (he's a member here also) and it looks like a welded accross the bottom seem. But he's in Vermont and I'm in SC - so I can just run over and compare
and I think I'm the only owner of an e-body in surrounding 100 miles.....
Okay to the question/opinion should I "wrap" the extra metal over the extension lip, or just cut if off flush?. Folding/wrapping it over seems like it would be stronger - but I'm also thinking it would make a nice lip to catch water and grime. I'm going to have to put a new quarter on the drivers side later this year and want to do it the same way and am wondering if the other quarter will have the same extra metal (Goodmark for the curious)
Little detail - but I want to restore this car the right way
