Plan on porting my heads, did 2 sets now I didn't hog them out just got out all the roughness and blended. What a world of difference it makes. Lots of time here. Did it outside the garage in the summer. Cast iron grit gets everywhere. The Stealth heads need less than 1/4 the work cast heads do. Here's the rest of the kit.

Not knocking 440Source here ... but if you pay $900 for heads you get $900 worth and they seem reasonable even with some bench checks before installing. But remember that bench checks and rework cost nothing but money unless your name is CP or some others here able to do the work themselves. Stealth heads provide good value for people that may not otherwise be able to afford it. I used Indy EZ with setup and final machining by Muscle Motors. Ask CP ...... they were a true bolt on and absolutely no issues. Use Cometic gaskets folks..... they work. My heads cost $1850 and so were not cheap but are not the most expensive either. They have a different shaped chamber than the stealths as well. Heart shaped quench, isn't that better?? No pushrod issues even with lash caps on the valves and they came with 11/32 valves (lighter than 3/8) and the 10* locks. They were custom setup for my cam at 0.586 lift. What I am trying to say is I got what I paid for.

God I hope something's on it... the rod throw doesn't appear to have it and the main's  blurry. But I can see the normal taper around the oil holes is present so there will be taper on the journal when you measure it.

I've got a pair of stealths.
Engine is almost ready to run.

What to look out for with these heads:
-You need ARP head bolts/studs, standard bolts can't be tightened.
-Special head gasket needed with a 4.5" bore either Felpro marine or ROL
-Standard retainers/locks have failed on some in the past.
 I've bought 10deg compcam retainers and locks, but retainers hit the stamped rockers.
 As far as I know I am the only one with this problem.
 Can be rectified by fitting -0.050" locks, I went to beehives.
-3/8" pushrods touching the heads, easily rectified with a file.
-Check valve seats and guides.
-I've heard about some heads having porosity problems and leaking coolant.
-When going to a roller cam switch to better valves.
-Combustion chamber is pretty large, 84cc. I took 0.050" off and am now at 75cc.

Would I switch mine for eddy heads?
No I like the stealths, despite the problems.

why do you like them even with the problems?

Cause they look like stock heads.
Stealths are still about 300 less with the beehives, locks and retainers.
And I would need special$$ headers because of the angled plugs with the edelbrock heads.

Plus, Edelbrock heads have their own share of problems.

Absolutely not true

the steath heads are $900 for a reason .... and in now way a bolt on head  :2cents:

Well, last time I checked they still have the angled spark plugs, which means not every header will fit.
And I know my 89$ headers won't fit them.

I didn't say they were bolt on, but then I wouldn't just bolt on any aftermarket part without checking it first.

I'm not a big fan of 440 Source because of their customer service, but I've got a set of Stealth heads and have no issues with them. The motor makes over 600 HP. I in no way bolted them on out of the box. I am using Hughes roller rockers & rocker shafts and Comp Cams valve springs/retainers. I also had them ported/polished. Do your homework and they will work as well or better than a lot of aftermarket brand name aluminum heads.
