'70 Challenger in Aussie Flick "Running on Empty"
« on: August 26, 2008 - 01:14:11 PM »
One of my other hobbies is collecting movies with old cars in them.  I just recently found a copy of an 80's Aussie movie that I had heard had a '70 Challenger, and sure enough, it does!

It was pretty decent, for a car movie, theres a racey black Challenger with a funky yellow stripe that belongs to the "bad" guy, and the "good" guys drive a neat Australian Ford Falcon four door most of the movie.  There's a few boobies in it, too.

I don't want to ruin the movie for anyone, but if you're a car guy you'll definately get your kicks.

Yeah, I have a copy, in one of the opening races a cat does a filp in a Monaro and turns out to be a 6 cyl ( couldn't wreck a V8 ).
I used to own a  Holden the same as the plum colored one that the dumb country hicks drive in the movie, same color also (no it its not me, I think).
The Challenger was found a couple of years ago and has been restored I think, it now lives in West Australia, it was a 440 car and as there was only one of them the damage that you see in the movie was unfortunately real. The Blown Chevy does look great.
Not saying any more, watch the movie, cover your eyes when the girl strips off though.   :22yikes:

I remember seeing that movie years ago, it was actually in a video rental store. The thing that amazed me was the right hand driving position in the Challenger. I guess there were shops that did conversions to right hand drive in country. I would love to see some close up photos of that Challenger, especially interior shots.
