Here is another interesting tidbit Mopar friends. When Chrysler bought Rootes around 1966 it included Sunbeam who produced the Tiger model with a 289 engine in it. The 1967 Tigers all had the Pentastar on their lower passenger fender just like all Chrysler product cars. Chrysler however decided to end the model production as they did not want to service a Ford powered car through their dealer network.
The problem was created by the very cramped engine bay which would not allow the use of an engine with a rear mounted distributor as was the design of the 340. Only 500 1967 Tigers were built due to this.

My dad had a '55 Desoto- which became mine- and I have no recollection of a marker light. Where was it supposed to be exactly?

I think they were included through 1974. My '73 Challenger had one.

On the Desoto it was a very small oddly shaped piece of metal on the passenger fender in the center of the side trim I believe. I saw one about 4 months ago down in OR and the owner point it out. What he said was that Desoto put it on their cars to piss of Chrysler because it was becoming increasingly clear that Chrysler intended to subdue and eliminate the brand.
