By the way, is there a chance that something is a foul in the ignition?

get a mini-starter, bite the bullet and rip that POS boat anchor out. Plus it sounds cooler....  :misbehaving:

go to the local parts store, pay the core charge, bring the old junker back WITHOUT the box. They'll look at you like  :eek7: but they never told you to bring a mini-starter back.......  :misbehaving: ask for a starter out of an 89 Dodge Van or something newer, those are mini..... Its not your fault that someone stuck a large starter on it....  :lol2:

You'll be happy.

It's so friggin hot in my garage, i'm done for the day. When the sun gets past 2:00 pm it shines straight into my garage and it's at least 100 degrees in there now!

I've been foolin with this thing all day and ain't got squat done. So you think it's the starter? I need to get the POS starter, like you put it, out of there anyway because it's a old sucker! I've only had this ride for a year now and i'm slowly but surely improving everything. Whether or not it's the starter, it's just a matter of time before this dinosaur goes out if it isn't what's wrong anyway.

How much does a 89 Dodge van starter cost?

Well my battery charger wasn't putting out enough amps so i just used jumper cables. Hooked the jumper cables to the battery, ran the other ends over the side then underneath where i hooked the positive cable right to the post on the starter where the smaller wire connects then when i touched the starter housing with the negative jumper cable, it easily cranked the starter!

Cool starter Jackie.   :cooldancing:

I would go to Auto Zone they offer a lifetime warrinty at any location and its around 80 bucks.
tell them its a 92 1\2 ton pickup with a 5.2 motor, For some reason the 5.9's are $20.00 more  :screwy:
Clean all your cables check for bad connections and do you have a good ground strap on the motor to the battery?

Where is the ground strap located ? I know where the chasis ground is off the battery. Is that what your talking about? Where is the block ground strap?

the negative battery  cable should go straight to the left cylinder head , that is the ground strap

if the relay will not click check for voltage @ the small yellow wire on the realy when the key is turned to start , if no voltage you have a problem either at the bulkhead connector or column connector , clean them & coat with Di -electric grease , if you have power at the yellow wire & no click @ the relay the realy Is the problem , if the relay clicks & the starter doesn`t run you have a problem with the + cable to the starter , the brown wire to the starter solinoid or the - battery cable

Like I mentioned earlier on the relay I used this for an anti-thft device is to pull the reverse light / neutral safety plastic type connector off the relay... you turn the key and have power but on crank nothing.... i did this on purpose so my car wouldnt get stolen..... I learned this trick because mine had went out also and had to replace it... im leaning towards you need a new one also........ I belive i got mine from year one  :working:
