nah man... my dad let my uncle barrow the car back in the day and my uncle destroyed the 383 original engine ... so my dad went all out and droped a 440 in it ... the heads are 383 though ... no one believes it when it say it but its true 440 with 383 heads lol

bad experience happend 2 days ago ... as i was driving i started to hear a whistling noise ... not wanting to risk anything i decided to turn back and go home as i went home and put the car in park i started to freak out ... radiator was spitting out antifreeze like crazy ... today we found out it could be one of a few things

1. radiator could have run its course and we need a new one OR go to a junk yard and try to pull one

2. i dont have a fan shroud might need one BUT my dad when he drove the car back in the day switched out the fan for a Duster fan ...

3. might need to replace the dame fan

since the car IS a driver and not a show car i am considering all options...

Keep the numbers match radiator and get a new bigger core installed on the tanks. That's what I would do :2thumbs:

Was the car boiling over, or was the radiator leaking? A fan shroud will help cool things down. Finding a good radiator for a 440 in a junk yard will be nearly impossible, I'd imagine.

Yeah we ended up just buying a new aluminum radiator better be safe then sorry. We scored a good deal on it 205 with shipping so wasn't that big of a deal I took Jay Lenos advice ... When restoring a classic its better to just get a new radiator rather then taking ur chances with flushing out the old one

You should've  changed the thermostat first. The radiator may not have been bad. Save the old one and look up the numbers. My car was coded for the hemi radiator, when it was built.

keep that radiator. someone may need one for the numbers. it may have needed more than a flush, but probably is saveable. i always gut the thermostats if i am going to not run one, reason being, is that the outter area of the thermostat slows the flow of the coolant leaving it in the radiator long enough to cool before re entering the radiator. just my  :2cents:

the old radiator is savable but it was gonna be a 350 dollar investment that i wasnt willing to go into ... specially since the car is a driver and not a show car

Did you put a recovery bottle on the end of the hose?  Mopar radiator tags said only to fill the radiator to 1" below the top.  If full, it will puke after shutting it off.
