Almost hit a deer
« on: August 30, 2008 - 09:28:53 PM »
I was driving the Cuda home from a cruise-in about dusk tonight & a small deer ran out right in front of me.   :swear:  Luckily I wasn't going very fast because I was on our small road about 1/2 mile from my house.  I still locked up the brakes & missed it by about 3 feet.  It probably wouldn't have done too much damage, but even messing up the grill or headlight bezels on these cars is expensive.  Thats one reason I try not to drive the cuda after dark.

Yikes!  Thats pretty close.   :scared:

About a month ago I was driving home later than expected, I didnt want to when it was dark, but I did.  Sure enough, deer crossed the road about 100 feet in front of me.  Not nearly as close, but still scary trying to slow down a 37 year old car that fast.

I did that same last night.

I was driving at highway next to my farm with my daily driver. Speed was 60mph. I looked to the side window to just see my house and when I turned my eyes to the road again, there was average size deer just crossing highway fornt of my bumber. I hit the brake pedal with force and abs started to work on wet road. Deer ran in to the field and I kept going straight by the way. After that I was no tired at all  :22yikes:

If I had looked one second more my house, I bet my car and I would be in worse condition now.

Too familiar neighbourhood makes people less focused.

I've often wondered if these actually work.

I once hit a deer in my car. After I hit it, I watched it run away. The front end on my commuter car was toast.

Yeah I have heard that they do. I hit a deer with my 75 Cordoba long ago. The deer didnt get up, the Cordoba was fine and this was at 55-60. One good thing about driving a land yacht.
