RARE DEPUTY SURVIVOR---1971 DODGE CHALLENGER DEPUTY 225 AUTO
« on: August 31, 2008 - 06:32:20 PM »
Just found out that my car is 1 of 443 produced in 1971 as per Galen's White Book, given that it is a 1971 Dodge Challenger Deputy 225 Automatic. Just wondering how many of these are still alive?

If anyone has one out there please let me know. I would be very interested to know as I am trying to sell the car and am thinking of putting it in a Collector Car Auction.

Thanks,
Bella Beeze

I have no idea, but I'll just chime in that they're cool cars. A friend (who haunts this board) worked on one back in the day, early 80s probably, for a female friend who needed a car. He got everything perfect on it ... and a week later her brother slammed it into a phone pole.

Just in case you did not know......

The numbers in Galens book are for cars built for US sale unless noted.

The numbers for cars built for Canada & Export are not known, they would be in addition to the number you found.

I like the odd ball, low end cars, but they were not popular then (or now) with most folks.  :walkaway:

Hi there,

Thanks Challenger HK!! What a story about the pole! Very unfortunate for the car. I hope she was OK. I worked for an Insurance Company (AAMI) in Australia (I am in Canada at the moment with my mother) and the first thing we ask when someone is in an accident is -- Are you OK? --- Cars are replaceable, but people are not. I always drive very carefully. I am a lady driver. Well, I at least know one was existing out there and was hit by a pole. I am keeping a track of them now. If I do not sell it I am going to start a record and website for DEPUTY CHALLENGERS. I love records and research. Thanks for that. Do You have any other information on the car that I can record? Such as the city and state it died in and where do it end up. Color etc. I would appreciate it as I am serious about this. It will be a hobby for me. I need a hobby and I was looking for one.

Any other Deputy Challengers out there with 225 out there tell me your story DEAD or ALIVE. I want to know. :ylsuper:

Thank you again Alaskan_TA - you are the man with the knowledge, you are a encyclopedia for challengers. I like you. As I mentioned above, I love records and research - it is definitive. I admire that and appreciate your input as I am always seeking the truth about everything. I will pass this along to any prospective buyer as I too believe in being honest and if them the facts I will tell them as such. Do you know how I would find out how many were produced for Canada?

By the way, I am an avid American Political Junkie -- How you feel about Palin (Your Governor) as McCain's running mate? She seems like a honest straight shooter. It shocked the pants off of me but I think it could work out - she is quite the woman!

I have to comment though her accent sounds more like a Canadian than an American. It appears the further north you travelling in the US the more the accent becomes similar to the Canadian Accent. It is amazing what geography does. You must got the same accent Alaskan_TA?1?!

Regards,
Bella Beeze

If you are serious about starting a Registry for the A93 cars, I can help you get started, it is something I am quite versed in.  Registries can and do take a lot of time though, so be warned....

You also have options. All 1970 & 1971 A93 cars? The Challengers only? Barracudas and B-Bodies as well?

As far as Sarah goes, she tends to be quite motherly which is of course, expected since she is one and has been for a while. She has made a decision or two I was not happy with, but that happens sooner or latter with all "kids".

Accent-wise, I have been told by some easteners that I sound Canadian. But, my mother grew up in Ontario, (Kenora) so I may be a wee bit biased in my dialect.

Listening to my voice recorded I sound more Alaskan Indian (Tlinget / Haida / Tsimpsian ) to myself, but I grew up with several members of the local tribes here. The Tsimpsians actually moved here from Canada before the turn of the century.

Thank you so much for your offer. I really appreciate it.  I am serious about if I keep the car which I think is more than likely.
I think to start with a registry for Deputy Challengers would be a beginning I can handle and have a lasting and hones interest in,
for a beginner that is. If I was to go ahead with this, what is involved. I am not detered by hard work and I started things from nothing
before. I do not want to put you out, but would like to get an idea where I would start and structure it etc.

Very interesting family history you have. I knew it - you are part Canadian from my estimation - you have a way about you, different from the others.
Thanks for your kindness.

The Palin thing is interesting what did she do that you did not like -- just curious from a Amerian Political Junkie. They say she has a 65%-80% approval rating in Alaska and she being investigated.

Again, a brief run down on what would be expected and involved with the registry was be appreciated. I enjoyed you registry very much as well as others you showed me.

I have to get back to work. Thanks and look forward to hearing from you. My email is also  bellabeeze@yahoo.ca

Thanks,
Bella beeze

Not such thing as a Deputy in 1971.

Congress approval rating 5%-13%, sounds like "they" are investigating the wrong people.  :bricks1:

Thank you for the info about your deputy. I have a book to record it now. Did not realize that it is a coupe being a 1971 compared to a deputy from 1970. Any reason for the name change?

Alaskan_TA you are the man and such a decent and nice person. That is a great idea, but are you willing to do it for free? Think about it. I know you have put a lot
of work into what you have done. I hope you do not give away all your secrets away in the article. I do not know what is involved in setting up the registry at all, but it is info that others do not have and there is a reason for that. I might be barking up the wrong tree, but I just have been used and abused in the past and my hard work taken and used by others and given nothing back in return. It is information that perhaps people are willing to purchase/buy? I know I would. Just an idea.

Please let me know about the article sounds so interesting.

Thanks again, Bellabeeze

Well, I do most things for free. I see no reason to charge for passing on insights from my experience, especially if it helps others in some way.

If anyone has specific questions about starting or running a registry, please post them here & I will try and address them in the article.

Alaskan_TA,

I am very determined about wanting to go ahead with the register for 1970 & 1971 A93, but just for Challengers only.
I have managed a website before, so at least I have some experience with that, but really need your help with me starting this REGISTER
that I will call "The Challenger A93 Register".

I want to get started on it. Any information you can forward me or show me a link to would be greatly appreciated as I am looking forward to getting this going. I thought I could get started with a post to those out there that have a A93 Challenger. Any other ideas please let me know.

Thanks, it is greatly appreciated,

Bella Beeze

Bella, 1Badfish on this site has a rare original FM3 deputy challenger (now made up as a T/A). PM him for details on this car. I sold it to him in the spring of this year.

I've got a deputy.
It's a 1970 hamtramck built 318 floorshifted automatic car. It's got PS and PB and is an original A/C car.

Good luck withthe registry.

Hello everyone.  Forgive me for my ignorance, I am new to Challengers though would like to own one someday soon. What is a Deputy challenger. Was it an appearance, interior option, or something else entirely. Thanks for any insight.
