I like the 15s more because they make the car look more like a competition car (road racer).  The 17s look okay, but it makes the car look like it is more of a "show car" than a competitor.

But thats backwards! the 17s are better performing (road racer)!

Depends on the look of the wheel, I don't think mine looks like to much of a "show car", with 255s and 295s it still performs pretty well  :dogpile:

I'm thinking that the 15" wheels lower weight will help me at the dragway?  Yes/No?

Tom

Maybe that and some Drag radials will get me in the 12's.  I got the itch a bit. :working:

Tom, you need the pic from your other thread showing both wheels. I think the 17"s look great on your car. That's aside from any performance aspects.  :2thumbs:

I just voted and 17's are winning, I would have never expected that!

Personally I used to just have a set of steelies with slicks and some like 175 series steelies up front that I ran at the track. I've run on draglites that are SUPER light, if you're worried about track only issues, I'd get a set of drag wheels, slicks and front runners!

Draglites, they are ridiculously light in my opinion. I'm a little guy but I could probably wing a slick a distance! lol

Old slicks and 'skinnys'.

I do have some access(draglites or similar) to a set on another car.  But I have these here and figured I could leave them on all the time.  Plus if I use drag slicks i can only run on Friday nights up here.  Wed nights seem to work with my schedule better and no slicks are allowed.

Thanks goody, what are your 60' times in your car?

Well there were "No Slicks" allowed at the street nights in Vegas either. After going there a few times, I found out that was just a suggestion but many people ran them, so I picked up a set. Never had an issue, I ran a driveshaft loop which is all that was required..no problems! The 15s would be an advantage at the track (weight/tire selection), however I'd consider a more track friendly setup with them to help out the e/ts. I liked having 100% street tires and 100% track tires since you get the best of both worlds on drivability.

I 60' at 1.9sec, my car isn't all that fast. But of course zero traction issues, I like having "too much tire" (slicks) than having to push or play with traction (d/rs or street tires).

I hear you, the track is over an hour away, and I don't want to go that far and leave my junk somewhere after changing tires.LOL  I got a 2.07 60' last time out so I know I can do better with some Hook.

Your car does very well for a 318 for sure!

Weight depends a lot on the style of rim, not just the size. Those chrome 17's are probably pretty heavy compared to the 15's, but don't forget the weight of the tire either. I had a set of 17x8" rims on my SRT-4 that weighed in at 15 lbs each, which was over 5 lbs less than the stock 17x6's.

And reducing the sidewall flex with definitely help in the corners.

I do not have a problem with your wheels, they look good.  I think that is partly due to them being mainly black.  I just think with the color of his car, the 15s look better.  Just my taste.   :2thumbs:

I have to vote based solely upon the two choices you presented.  I personally prefer 17's, but I'm not a big fan of those wheels.  I like the look of those 15's, so that got my vote.

Thanks Greg for the input.  I like both, they both have their place for me.  Depending on how I'm feeling.

those 15s look bad @$$ on your car.  Based on those 2 pics, I love the vintage look on your paint choice.  the 17s are cool, too...  like others have said, must be the chrome... just can't compete with those vintage 5 spokes...  and I'm a big wheel guy, too...
