Power Steering

Hello have a 69 A-body has power steering that is full time. What the easiest way to go to part time power. R&R the pump, what year did it chance over to part time??  Wife gets a little nervous on the highway with it.  Thanks  John

It is full time all the time.

Have you had an alignment done to it?

Hi, alignment is fine, toe is set. Steering box is adjusted. It's just that it's to easy turn at highway speed, as if it was to touchy.

They are like that.  Mine is not too bad with a replacement box and pump with all new suspension too.  but it still steers easy on the Highway.

have an alignment shop set th ecaster to max , this will help the feel of the steering

I believe it was about $265 including return shipping.  This was for a full rebuild with bearings installed on the cross shaft.  Original equipment has no bearings in the housing according to them.  Give them a call and ask to talk to Tom, he was very helpful and easy to talk to.

 I just installed a Firm Feel stage two on my 70 Challenger ($325). It helped quite a bit but its still a little "twitcy" at highway speed. Max caster I could get was 0 so new offset upper control arm bushings are going in next. Looking for 3 degrees positive as recommend by F.F. and others.
