New to Mopars....

I started in the newbie section..now i'm moving on to here.  So,  here is a pic of the 73 barracuda (same as in newbie section).  There isn't much left to do, but I'll stop back in with info on my progress.  Also, more motor info, etc.

Ok, here is a little info on the motor. It's still being built (slowly)

Bottom end is 440 bored 30 over.  Rebuilt to stock specs. (during original resto)

New stuff that came with the car:

Cam : Comp cams, .540 lift on intake and exhaust, duration @ .050 is 260 on both intake and exhaust
Heads:  Indy Cylinder Heads "440 EZ" aluminum with 2.190 intake and 1.810 exhaust valves
Intake: Indy Cylinder intake
Carb:  Barry Grant Demon 750
Exhaust:  TTI headers with 3" exhaust, x-pipe, flowmasters, flows out through stock tips in stock location.
Ignition:  msd box "digital 6 plus", msd billet distributor and msd coil
Trans:  727 auto with a shift kit and Hughes 4k stall.  Aftermarket deep pan.

I'll have pics of the motor once I get the pushrods back.  I'm waiting on them to be cut and have the tips pressed in.
The car also has rear air shocks.  I don't think they will work very well once the car is running. Does anybody know of a good rear suspension set up?  Traction bars, etc.

Your pistons have valve reliefs cut in them? How deep are you in the hole? Caltracs is a fairly good laddr bar type no weld installation. I almost bought them yesterday, but am holding true to staying stock looking.

Never traction bars on a MOPAR.  I'd go with Super Stock springs & long shocks.   If its a 4-speed use a pinion snubber.

 :iagree: Never use traction bars on a mopar. Unless you are going to get really specialized like a 4 link or ladder bar setup, all you need is a good set of leaf springs and an adjustable pinion snubber. By the way, great looking car. :cheers:

Moparal...I'm not sure on the pistons, I bought the car from a friend of mine and the heads were already on the engine.  I'll get in touch with him to find out for sure, but I think the pistons are standard flat top piston without valve reliefs.  The rockers are stock 1.5 with roller tips if that helps.

Everyone's answers on the traction bars explains why I couldn't find any, lol !!  The caltracs system looks nice, I'll have to see if anyone has used them.

I should have my pushrods back from the shop tommorrow afternoon.  He said they were alot harder than he anticipated and had to order a new cutting tip that he'll have in the morning.
If I can get things rolling...I'll have the engine in the car this weekend...hopefully.

With a 540 lift, I am hoping that your valves dont touch the pistons.

With as nice as everything elese is, I would hope they had just as good a machinist to do the engine. Maybe look inside the plug holes and exhaust ports for signs of valve reliefs
