245 MPH getoff!
« on: September 03, 2008 - 02:31:09 PM »
I just thought I'd share this with you.  High sided at 245MPH

Jay is a former student of mine and I have been watching him get land speed record after record.  :canada:

It shows what a good set of leathers (they measured his slide for 1800 feeet) and a LOT of luck can do.  All he got was a cracked kneecap, a lot of sore muscles and two purple a$$ cheeks.  He says he hurts all over and the heat rash he got from sliding on the salt really hurts.

There is a good info about it on http://www.suzukihayabusa.org/forum/index.php?topic=132721.0

Yikes!!! :22yikes: I'll bet that's gonna leave a mark. Takes a real set to go that fast on two wheels. I don't think I'd want to go that fast on 4 wheels!! :scared: My hat's off to him and glad he wasn't seriously hurt!!

You might want to fix the title...  I'll have to look at the video from home - no youtube at work.

It always makes me wonder in spills like that, how the bike, or boat or whatever it is, keeps up with the driver and tries to pass him. Must be the weight and momentum. I know that hurt. He is very lucky to have survived. I was glad to see him set up for a second. The only thing good about the vid is he survived.

Yea, the bike has more momentum than the rider because it has more mass. The fall didn't look too bad until he got tangled up with the bike again. Ouch!

The video looks worse than it was.  He says he was about 10 feet away from the bike when they started to tumble...never mixed it with the bike.

I beg to differ on that. At 245 mph with no cage, it looks and I bet feels bad too.Jump out a car at 100 mph :roflsmiley:  I feel sorry for him

Irony, I post about Jay's crash, then read about this guy who wasn't lucky.
My condolences to his family.

He was EXTREMELLY lucky! I highsided my Harley at about 30 MPH a couple of years ago and it put me in a trauma hospital for 8 days! I'm still not sure how many ribs I broke. :scared:
