Small blocks had braces from the lower mid-rear part of each side ofthe block to the bottom bellhousing area on automatics. Not used on 4-speeds.

They'll only bolt on one way. Get under the car with them and try positioning them over different holes until they fit. There isn't really too many different combinations to try. If it don't fit on one side, try it on the other. Maybe somebody can take a pic of theirs?

I left mine off and I cracked two flex plates.  I put them on and I have never had a problem.

I can take pics of them on my car tonight if you want them.

An oldie but a goodie for me....sorry to revie an ancient thread but.......

Put my headers on last night and the brackets had to come off....

Is this a bigdeal?  Cracked flex plates dont sound like fun....any way to lessen the risk????????    :clueless:

Ok, so the engine and tranny wont just fold up in half while driving?

I figured it would be ok....but the retentive side of me says "But they had the braces there for a reason!"

The header instructions clearly say to remove the braces for the install, but never mention them for reassembly...sounds like its a liability thing....LOL :clueless:
