I would say you can't go wrong with either.  I had an Eddy 600 on my 340 and it worked trouble free for many years.  Last year I had the 340 rebuilt into a 417 stroker and I went with a Holley Street Avenger.  After owning both, I prefer Holley's, I'm not knocking Edelbrock, it's just my personal choice to go with a Holley.  I would recommend a Holley Street Avenger 670.   :2cents:

IMO a 600 ED is too small for a 340. You would have been better off with the 750. On a stroker 340 it's WAY too small and anything bigger will work better. That's like comparing a 600 Holley with a 750 ED. The ED will win that contest every time.

All that being said, I'd go for the 800 Thunder AVS. I'll let this dyno test explain why. And it's an MM magazine article, not affiliated with ED in any way. No bias.

Did you read the article? 35+ HP bolting it on to a STOCK 340. No changes, no jetting, nothing.

If you can ever find a Holley that will give an extra 35hp just replacing the stock 4 bbl on a stock motor, please let everybody know what it is.  :2thumbs:

That article was amazing. I will try it on my 340 (not the comp cam though) maybe by the end of this year.
