Can't sleep, Never drove a cuda?
« on: September 06, 2008 - 05:24:02 AM »
I am wondering if I could tell any differences in driving a Cuda vs Challenger. I have never driven a cuda YET. I have owned three challengers so far.   :clueless:

Well I am here to tell you there is a difference in them.  I have owned both and prefer the Cuda over the Challenger as for as drive.  I have owned a lot of each and I prefer the small blocks also.  Just me I know.

I have owned both. Many of each. To me, the challenger rides a little smoother than the barracuda. Maybe the wheel base, I am not sure. Seems looking over the hood of a barracuda is shorter to. The rides actually fell a little different to me. They are both great cars to own and drive, but I prefer the plymouth over the dodge.

With all due respect to the prior posts, unless you have two cars set up exactly the same (drivetrain, suspension, tires, seats, etc) there is no way to get a valid comparison between the two cars. The difference in wheel base is so small that it is not a factor. I've owned over 40 of these E bodies, and i can say every one of them drove a little different, and as far as challenger to cuda comparisons, i can honestly say i see no pattern that tells me the models drive differently. It's more a factor of big block/small block, front suspension setup and alignment, tires, frame connectors or stock, rear suspension setup, and general overall condition of the car.

Now how you percieve the cars certainly enters into it. You'd almost have to do a blind driving test....now that would be a neat trick heh?

All comes down to personal preference, that's all.

I've owned a 70,71 & 73 Challenger and a 70 Cuda.  The 70 cuda, and 70 and 71 Challengers all had the same drive train (as I wrecked the 70 Challenger and sold the Cuda body and transferred the motor and trans each time).  They were all pretty much the same and they all rocked!
I may be schizophrenic,

There is a difference to me.  I am 6'4" with a 36" inseam and I noticed a slightly better seating position in a Challenger.  Seems like everytime I drive a Cuda, my knees hit the steering wheel.

I guess as you can tell my love is for the Cuda for sure.  I love driving them more than the challeger.

I've had both also and I agree with ChallengerGary in that the Challengers seem to be slightly roomier inside.

If you tell us your underwear size I'm gonna puke  :eek4:

Personally I like the way a cuda drives better, not sure if they is any real difference but they are rarer and grab more attention, at least where i live

I've driven both but it's an unfair comparison, the Challenger is a 440 and the 'Cuda was a 340. What I can and will say is the extra weight up front from the big block is very noticeable after driving the small block. The small block 'Cuda just felt that much lighter and more nimble, was very surprising. Around 100lbs difference, is 100lbs difference. I liked it. Can't weight for Madeline, big block power with small block weight.

I believe challengers are heavier than barracuda's. The doors, the hood, the deck lid. I think they ride smoother.
