Kenny,
I can but I would really rather finish the article first.  ;)

Aw heck with it. I will forward it to you, but you gotta ask me some questions so I can answer them in the final version.  :wave:

Back to A93 cars now........

The "A" codes are sales codes for "packages" - several things included in one option code if you will. But, the list of 1971 Dodge Division sales codes does NOT list A93.......

OK, so how did you order an A93 car if it is not on the list? It is not on the dealership order blank either......

There was likely a letter or memo to the dealerships to address this, ( I do not have a copy, not yet anyway.... )  but the key was to order a JL21 car vs. a JH23 car and then the A93 code popped into the sytem automatically. No JL21 VIN cars are known to exist, the JL21 is mentioned in paperwork only & was the default "code" to order an A93 car.

Thanks guys for all your responses. I will do my best here.

Great info I enjoyed seeing and reading it very much. Barry you are amazingly full of info. The documents are outstanding. This is great stuff. Where did you get them from?

I noticed that car (as the car of month) could not believe it was so close. Every time I see A93 it peaks my interest.

I too wondered about the JL. I read it on virtual garage that a real example has not been discovered yet. It is at all a possibility that there is one out there or just a type of
default code or have I misinterpreted that.

After living in Australia I think a registry for Australia would be fantastic!!!

What other info is there on A93 and thanks Daytona - I am going to google it. Any other pointers are appreciated. Big Thank You.

Bella

I have a fairly extensive library, the hard part is finding the right book. I have stuff I have not even had time to look at yet.  :screwy:

It is also one of the things that burns up a lot of my time, scanning what I have and adding it to my online library for everyone to use.

The Deputy name is from the advertising for these cars;

Read the text on the right side.  ;)

I do not recall seeing the Deputy name used on the 1971 cars?

Both the 1970 & 1971 models were coupes.

Note that the word "deputy" is not used in this 1971 ad;

http://www.hamtramck-historical.com/images/vintage-advertising/challenger034.jpg

It may mave been a marketing ploy in 1970 that just did not do well?

If I recall correctly wasn't the guy who played the cop in those commercials the same guy who was the redneck cop in Live and Let Die, The Man With the Golden Gun, and Superman II?

thedodgeboys,

thanks for the links to the arizona car did not see that one before. And thanks for the links to my car -- to remove my listing!! I am keeping my A93 Car that I love too much for any amount of money. Did I mention that I was born on the "9"th month and "3"rd day and I have been told I have a "A" type personality. That car was made for me.

Thanks,
Bella

P.S. Still can not believe you called my mechanic in Red Deer from Kansas City, but glad you did.
