75 amp alternator
« on: September 06, 2008 - 10:43:37 PM »
i just installed a 75 amp powermaster alt in my 440, i was told to run a 10 gage or heavier charge wire from the alt directly to the battery. is this correct for an externally regulated system, as i thought everythig had to go through the regulator first.will that wire going directly from the alternator to the positive terminal cook my battery. also, if it is ok to run it like that, do i run the wire from the same stud that the harness wire is coming off of       thanks

With 75 amps, I don't think it's necessary to add the wire from the alternator to the starter relay, but it is most definitely the safe way to go.   :grinyes:
