57 plymouth time capsule car?
« on: September 06, 2008 - 10:48:23 PM »
What ever happen with the 57 that was in a vault buried in Oklahoma,  I know it was a big disappointment that it was not mint but still it was a zero mileage car ..........  Did they send it to the scrap yard or is there a resto going on?

Since there was not enough of it left for the scrap yard I think someone is restoring it.

...it's undergoing a resto of sorts....I think it should have been left as it was....I attended that event with a Prowler Club and it was a blast...even got on Boyds "American Hot Rod" TV show by accident

Hard to believe any of it is actually salvageable.  Kinda funny, that if it were left above ground it may have fared better?

i read an article a few months ago that it is undergoing a mild? resto. It might have been in mopar collectors guide. Someone was doing a clean up of the car, not a restoration. the article had a couple of pics if i recall right.

From what I last read about this story; the nephew or son of the deceased man who won it was quote "Taking it to be de-rusted". Not really sure what was meant by that, but it didn't sound like a resto was in the works. At least thats how I remember it from reading an article a while back in Mopar collectors guide. (or just read article given above)

I'm positive it was in MCG. I'll flip through my back issues, but if you email them, I'm sure they will be able to tell you what month the article was in. It wasn't a large article, but it was there. Let me know if you find the month it's in or visa-versa. I can scan it and send to you if we find.

Not sure if I am thinking of the same mag as the rest of you but I thought it was MCG. I read it in a Mopar mag my father in law gives me when he's done reading them. But the mag I read it in had the Plymouth on the cover, numerous photos, and had a fairly lengthy article about its ressurection from its watery tomb. Also this issue was older (7-9 months ago).
