Chrome fender trim
« on: September 09, 2008 - 08:41:56 AM »
I have a question, was the chrome fender trim on the wheel wells a option or standard back in the day? Personally i like it, but about half of the cars i see on ebay and other places do not have this trim.

It was an option that came under some full trim codes or could be ordered as an extra option and only appeared on the build sheet. :2thumbs:

I would think all the fenders/rear quarters had the screw holes for the trim. Adding that trim was the very first thing I did to my car. It really pops for a darker car.

What kind of car?

It was standard on all 1970 Challenger models except the 340 & 340-6 cars. It was not available as an option on them.

They did not have the holes for them either.

What trim level for the 71 cuda/barracuda got the (stainless?) fender trim. Seems to me most cars I see do not have it. Maybe most people dont like the look. Guess it depends on the car and the color.
My clone has the fender trim but no rocker trim. Was rocker trim part of that option package?
Just curious. Thanks.

The screws were self threading.  I put many of them on back in the day at the dealership

Mike - Who did you buy the trim from, and were you happy with the fit, did you have to modify them to fit??  Mine are all beat up, and new ones would look nice.  Thanks.

It was too long ago for me to remember where I bought them, but there are a number of vendors selling them now. The fit wasn't bad either. I just started at the middle of the wheel well and worked my way out, rather than putting them on from one end to the other. The screws were even included.

This was the way we put the chrome on back in the day as well.  It worked better.  I know some of the fenders had screw holes but not all of them had them.

Paolo,
My 71 cuda is the same color with the same fender trim as yours. It also does not have the stainless rocker trim, just like yours.
PS
I dont think Italy has much chance of repeating this year

anyway, the lime green fender is not my car.  My car is Hemi Orange and it doesn't have any fender moldings actually.

I would like to add it but it seems that it wouldn't be correct for my car due to the lack of M26 code on my fender tag (is it correct ??).

Never seen a NOS pieces (set of 4) for less than 250$.

FYI: a cheep alternative could be this blemished item (just one spot):  http://www.btuckerinc.com/index.php?l=product_detail&p=37
