More carb help needed

Maybe I'm an idiot but....I have installed my new Edelbrock carb,connected the kickdown and throttle cables, new fuel line from fuel pump to carb, new fuel filter, double checked all my connections and have plenty of gas in the tank.
The car will crank but will not start.

What am I doing wrong? Sorry if this is a stupid question.

If you look down the carb. front throat & pump the throttle by hand can you see fuel squirting from the accelerator pump jets?

I had a hard time getting my rebuilt T/Q to give fuel , turned out the linkage to the accelerator pump needed drastic adjustment.

I am going to say that I can't see any fuel. I will double check tonight.
Last night when I was trying to start it I couldn't smell any gas either.

Disconnect your supply line at the cab & insert it in a container crank engine  & see if you can get fuel....If you get fuel the Float needles in the carb. are stuck closed,  a blast of compressed air may free or you may have to take the top off
         ...if no fuel your issues are not with the carb.

I did as you said and the gas was flowing.

Reconnected the hose and it fired right up. Not sure why it wouldn't start last night but I'm good now.

If the carb is bone dry, it will take several cranks. I'm not sure if this was your problem or not.    I usually give a new carb a shot of starter fluid. Usually by the time that runs out, the gas has gotten there.

Could be because a fuel pump is made to pump liquid & not air so the dry lines may be harder to get fluid through on a sealed system, disconnecting the line at the carb & letting it fill up with fluid purges the air.....just my theory.
