Hello from Maryland
« on: September 11, 2008 - 03:42:35 PM »
hello all. My name is Brad. I'm 17 and I live in Bowie, MD. I come from a Mopar family. My dad is a Mopar guy, and he got me into these cars. He used to own a 1969 Road Runner which he put a 440 six pack in, then a 1970's(not sure the year) Duster 360. he had a bad experience with his Road Runner after he bent something in the Engine, he told me his Duster sucked, so he bought a '78 Camraro, and then an '85 Monte Carlo SS, which I grew up with. I was sort of an all-around fan of muscle cars(Fords, GM, Mopars, etc). GM were my preference until my dad purchased an '06 Charger R/T. I instantly fell in love with the car, and have fallen in love with Mopars. I hope to build my own Mopar soon.
I have nothing. go ahead and laugh. but when I get my something, prepare to be awed

Hey, Brad. You've come to the right place. Great people. Now we just have to get you a car.

Welcome to the site, Brad.  Stick around - maybe we can help you find a good first Mopar for yourself.

Since we usually tell  :newbie: that  :useless:, post a pic of your dad's Charger.

Welcome Brad.  Can't help but wonder what your dad bent in a 440 6 pak motor. I also wonder what could have been wrong with his 360 Duster if he felt an emasculated '78 Camaro was a performance upgrade. If memory serves me right the Warlock and Lil Red Express trucks were the quickest american vehicles available in 1978 and would even beat the Corvette's  :clueless: (He'd probably be shocked to hear a '72 Duster was in the stock eliminator final at the recent NHRA Indy race and it qualified with a 10.76 in E/SA)

I asked my dad what he did, and he spun a bearing in the 440. He had a 75 Duster 360 which he said was garbage. he said the 340s kicked his ass

Those big motors do have shallow pans and if you don't have baffles in them it's easy to uncover the pickups and starve them for oil....

Welcome to the site, Brad!  Best of luck in your search for a cool old MoPar to fix up. :2thumbs:  I was 17 when I picked up my '73 Challenger project and must say it was a great way to kill some time after school/work.  340's are definitely no slouch, but a well-built 360 can handle itself, too.
