My 71 challenger convertible was wrecked on the driver's side left front, sometime before I got it. Someone replaced the lower control arm and driver's fender. The fender still has the part number on the inside. 3579625 I bought Sprecks Hood and fenders so I don't need this one anymore.

Is it still NOS if it was put on the car and sprayed behind the headlight buckets? It was never painted besides a light coat of primer, so it has very light surface rust and a little rust on the insde by the buckets. It is a T-A replacement fender that has the special outward curve on the body line for the bigger tires. You can only see it if you eyeball down a T-A fender and eyeball a regular fender. T/A owners know of this bulge. I'm not talking about a rolled fender lip. It has the cutout for the newer 72-74 grill, which came this way from the factory.

Me thinks at least 4-5 x what a repro standard fender goes for. There's gotta be a TA out there wearing the wrong left fender that the owner would trade his 1st born for.

Once any NOS Part is bolted or put on a car it is "used".

This is my understanding too. I'd guess, though, that explaining the situation, i.e., it was never driven, would get you more money.

Barry, My friend already had his T/A in 1980 when I bought my R/T. Parked side by side, looking down the line from the rear bumper, I could see the bulge on the front fenders on both driver and passenger side. You have to have a regular fendered car next to a T/A to see it. On my replacement fender, I see the same bulge that I saw 28 years ago. My original passenger fender doesn't have it. If you have original fenders on your T/A, you should see the difference when parked next to a standard one. My part number is 3579625

Are we going to start the '71 T/A thing again?

In MCG a few years ago, in Galen's column, he said that he saw documentation on (1) '71 T/A. It was sold to an investment company and then never seen again. GALEN IS GALEN, so take this for what you think of him, good or bad. Maybe they will keep it hidden till it hits 50 years old?

There were parts made for the 71 T/A such as the 4bl base and air cleaner to mate to the T/A hood. I seen pics of it once.

Sounds like a 71 fender. Some 71's had '15 inch' fenders also. Other 70 cars beside the T/A also had the '15 inch fenders.

What front mounting plate does it have, got a photo?

The original 1970 Chrysler parts book shows this fender as one for the Trans Am Challenger with F60X 14 tires.

I see the bulge. I also showed it to a friend of mine that restores Mopars. He didn't know about it till I showed it to him. He saw it. Any other T/A owners out there able to see the outward bulge at the body line? It has to be on the car to see it.

Does it agree with the other numbers above in the interchange book? I think the body shop needed a fender and just ordered the one that was available.

OK, it is a later (1971 or newer) fender since it has the notch at the front.

Does it really say 14"? All T/As came with 15" tires.
