Hi all,
I had a 73 Challenger for my first car. I've wanted one since I was 9 yeras old my total favourite car! Guys in highschool used to laugh when we all sat around dreaming of "if you could have any car you wanted what would it be" I would say a 1970 Challenger. I did have my dream car they haven't!! I'm now 40 and am GOING to have another one! I want a 70 this time though! I'm in Canada
60 miles north of Toronto. I've been looking for about 6 months now, e-bay etc... I work as a tech inspector at my local stock car track and a racer overheard me talking about wanting one. He came over and said I have one thats been sitting in my garage for over 15 years and I'll never finish it. I couldn't believe it! So I went over and "looked" It's literally a "basket case" the car is totally disassembled everything is in milk crates . It has new floors and trunk floors already painted top and underneath ( hemi orange ) The main body is really solid it needs new fenders and hood and trunk lid and total interior it has the 4 speed pedals installed. It's a 318 car. It has a 4 speed with the pistol grip shifter and 3 sets of doors and 2 R/T hoods but they all look rough. He says he has a new headliner and seat covers ( didn't see them yet) He said if I was serious he would drag it out ( the car in in a shed) and put it on a hoist so I could have a real good look at it.
I don't care about # matching I'm planning a 6.1 hemi with a 5 speed or 6 speed. I plan on building my own tubular k-member and other mods.
My question is what would be a fair price? I was thinking $4000? I know basket case cars cost lots to get all the pieces but finding a solid shell is a "problem"
Any thoughts?
Thanks Brad
