why is a 70 road lamp bracket different then 71?
« on: September 16, 2008 - 09:31:23 AM »
If it has the same bumper and the same bumper brackets, why is the road lamp brackets different? Is it because of the splash pan? would 71 brackets work on a 70?

I think it's because of the 71 having a smaller opening in the frt.valance.70-71 bumper brackets should be the same.

When they narrowed up the opening on the 71 elasto bumpers to match the narrower opening of the 71 valance, the road lamp brackets had to be changed to fit.

That is correct. The bumper brackets are the same for both years.

The difference is stated above. The '71 style bracket is shorter and tucks the road lamps closer to the bumper. The '70 style is slightly larger and lower which causes the roadlamps to contact the lower grille on a '71. ask me how I know  :pullinghair:

anyone interested a beautiful pair of original '70 brackets, let me know.

Since some of you gentlemen have both Cudas and Challengers, can I ask a question?

Which bracket do you think would fit a '70 Challenger better?   ???
