Do you keep a spare in the car?
« on: September 17, 2008 - 03:27:28 AM »
Seeing the question from AARCuda340+6 made me think about this one. I have to keep a spare in the trunk (German law), but I can't mount it or anything (all the brackets are gone). I also don't keep a jack or lug wrench. The spare I have is really just for show (it is a 15X3 skinny front). It will fit on the front since it is the same size, but no chance on the rear. My plan is to just park and wait for ADAC (like AAA) to show up and tow me.

Yes, a full sized 245 BFGoodrich Radial T/A in the Challenger R/T. The 'Cuda may or may not have one. Good to save weight but it's also good to have that weight in THAT spot for traction. I run the canisters in all my cars regardless (1 due to it's big sound system). It's called "Fix-A-Leak" and works well. Cheap to buy, easy to use. Only problem is if you get a REAL good puncture, it may not seal so you'll be stuck. In my 10+ years of driving I've only had one puncture and that was 5mins from home + AA is always there if needed so the risks for NOT having one are not a concern to me.

I did for a while but decided to stop since most likely help was either a phone call or short walk away around here.

Can't fit a full size 28.5" tall tire in my trunk, so I don't carry one.

I only keep a regular size spare tire in my trunk if I go for a long drive to a show.  If I'm in town or close by I have nothing in the trunk.   I wanted to use one of those collapsible spare tires just for show and nothing else.  I'm just not sure if they are close to being original for the 70 Barracuda/Cuda.   I don't want a spare that belongs to a Chev or Ford.  I don't want people throwing rocks at me.  :grinyes:

I don't, thinking about buying a wheel from the salvage yard with a medium size tire to put in there, probably won't though.

With my big tool box and spare parts, I have no room for a spare.    :walkaway:

Well, my fronts are 14's, and the backs are 15's...but I say your excuse is the best yet.   :2thumbs:

I can almost fit 2 235/60/15 drag radials in the trunk.lol  If I didn't have the subwoofer box I could do it.

Full size spare in my trunk for 6 years now and have never needed it.  I was eyeing it up last night and thinking about taking it out.  I'm sure if I do my luck will run out.

What's funny is I daily drive a single cab 92 dakota. It doesn't have a spare because of the same reason basically. I don't have anywhere to put a jack because I have 4 8" subs behind my seat.  It didn't have a spare any it when I bought it either.
