In the Challenger I don't currently carry a spare, however I intend to as over the years I have needed one.
Once at 2AM in morning I got a blow out, side wall fractured, no jack so I had to drive on it until it started to smoke and sent burning rubber down the side of my show quality paint on the car.   :stomp:

I drove 10,000 miles last year. I have a 16" tiny temporary donut in as my spare. I will not use it unless it is an absolute emergency. If I put it on the rear it will burn out my sure-grip, but something might happen where it will be worth burning out. Paid $20 for it at a junk yard.
If you have an EMERGENCY, how much would you pay to have something to throw on there? $20?, $100?, $500?

I also carry a small toolbox that has a mini floor jack in it. I have a bumper jack, but it is just in there for looks. I wouldn't use it because it ruins your bumpers.  I also have AAA towing  with my cell phone carrier, just in case.

I have a temp spare also.  If you are looking for one, you can get one out of a 90's Jeep Cherokee.  They are on a 16-inch wheel and the tire can vary in height.  They are only about 4-5 inches thick and can give you extra room in the trunk.

I had a spare that unbeknownst to me was the wrong offset and would hit the upper control arm everytime I turned.  I would just put it on the rear for a bit instead and put the rear on the front.LOL  I didn't have big 'ol tires on the back back then(235/60/15's) and only 225/70/15's on the front.  I think the tire came from a fwd econobox.  I eyeballed it out of a 1 dollar pile at the jyard. :violin:

I have it a little easier than you guys, because my 'Cuda is a 1967 fastback. Plenty of room for a spare and a jack. I carry a 295/50R15 on a Cragar Soft 8, just like I run on all 4 corners of the car. Better safe than sorry.

You've got 295/50/15 on the front of a 67 Cuda? Cool  :ylsuper: Pictures? [edit] Ok, I found pics of it here: http://www.cuda-challenger.com/cc/index.php?topic=49443.msg506588#msg506588 [/edit]

In my 68 notchback, I run the thin temporary spare so my spare tire cover sits flat. Acually have some room on top of the spare.

Looking for a semi circular gas can to fit in the spare. I swear they used to make those. But haven't seen any. Maybe I'm dreaming??

yup. i have the original 1969 Goodyear polyglass spair that came with the car in the trunk along with the original jack. Yes, i used them too. the tire has been on the ground 2 times since 1969 and still works great, just dont know how far i would drive on it, and it felt really wierd having it on there.

No spare in my trunk.  I keep my full size, original factory spare tire in the basement where it has been for the last 36 years.  That got me thinking....I need to take some pictures of it.

Funny, after talking to everyone at Carlisle this year, I was BLOWN AWAY at the number of people who didn't carry a spare!

But like was said, if you run different size front to rear, what are you going to do?
