ViperMan's 30th Birthday Extraordinaire!
« on: September 18, 2008 - 01:05:17 PM »
Well, it's still a ways away, but - horrible economy be damned - people are planning their '09 Summer Vacations already!  So I started booking mine.

On May 30th, 2009 I turn 30 years old.

In Lancaster, PA - about 45 minutes from my residence - is a private vehicle rental agency that has... ...believe it or not... ...a Dodge Viper SRT10 Convertible.  You have to be 30 years old to rent it.  *evil grin*

Starting May 28th or May 30th - haven't nailed it down just yet - my wife and I will pick up the Viper and drive north east into the Pocono Mountains.  I'm waiting for my rate quote from the Caesars Resorts on a Fantasy Apple suite, complete with private whirlpool bathtub AND heated indoor pool - in your room!

On the second day of my vacation I'll drop my wife off at the resort spa and take the Viper a few miles north to the start of PA Route 6 in Milford.  The route from Milford to Scranton is noted on Edmunds.com as one of the best driving routes in the North East.  I'll run the Viper West/North-West to Scranton and back - a 3+ hour drive (or until my arms get tired!) before returning to the resort.  I'm thinking about renting a video-recorder and somehow mounting it to the dash to document my trip.

I already have the Viper penciled in, and am just waiting for price confirmation on the resort.  It might be nearly 8 months away, but I can't help being just a little excited!

Hey, help pony up the $2,500 this entire event will cost me, and I'll be glad to take you around!  Lol - j/k

The Viper runs $249 a day for 2 days or more ($299 a day for one day) or $1,200-something for a week.  Not sure if a week is 5 or 7 days by their standards.  Of course, I'm taking it for four days - $1,000.  I might as well just plunk down another $200 and keep it for a week...  Other bummer is you only get 100 miles a day - additional miles are .75 cents per.  I'm sure most of the daily cost goes to insurance.

The resort will probably run me about $300 a night, but that includes food and everything.  (And if you've never been to the Caesars Resorts, it's worth every penny.)

Now, you might say that $2,500 is a helluva lot to spend on 4 days...  But you only turn 30 once, and after that, you pretty much start dreading every birthday after!

3 hours away from me!  That is one cool b-day planned!

Remember on the rentals, they measure the tread depth of the tires when you rent any speciality car.  Get some vid and pics for sure!

Sounds like you'll have a blast!  Take lots of pictures and post them.

 :thumbsup:

I've been driving them for 10 years now and they never fail to make me happy when I'm driving one.  When you own one, make sure you join the VCA.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Are YOU the regional president??  Or is that someone elses's trophy?

I've been trying to become an honorary member now for years.  :)  I've been talkin' Vipers to Viper people since 1995 if not sooner.  I already receive the Viper quarterly magazine and have hung out at a few Viper Days events with Mr. Skip Thomas.

Yes - VCA membership will be a definite "must."

Jeff

Oh...  "CODY" - Cody Reich on the trophy.  Wow...  What models have you owned?

That's so cool.  I think you've liked them longer than I have! :clapping:

This will be my last year as an officer.  4 years as an officer and 10 years in the club.  I've made some life long friends.  I'll always be a member.

I've owned,

1 = 1992 RT/10 Red
1 = 1997 RT/10 Blue with White stripes (Still own)
2 = 1998 GTS Red / Red with silver stripes
1 = 2000 GTS Red
1 = 2002 GTS Final Edition Red with White Stripes (Still Own)
1 = 2003 SRT 10 Black

Let me know if you ever need any help or have any questions about vipers.  I hope I can answer them or at least put you in touch with someone that can.

Instead of spending all that cash on the viper for a week why dont you just sell the barracuda and put it down against a used viper gts i have seen them on cars.com and autotrader.com at 40k and under and just pay the payment which prob be about 300-400 a month and have your dream car.Just a thought.

There`s a place near here towards Boston that rents exotics and I may do the same except next July will be my 50th!I`ll probably only rent it for the day though as I think they charge around $500/day.   :22yikes:  Someday I before I turn to maggot food I hope to own one as I also see them regularly for high $30`s -mid 40`s for nice used ones.
