Finally, after 16 years of waiting... I got a Cuda
« on: September 19, 2008 - 08:55:38 AM »
Hi there.
Finally got a Cuda that I thought I would never get.
Typical story I suppose, it was someones elses project that was someone elses, etc. etc.
The latest guy has collected parts for the last 4 years and now with kids/family/etc he can no longer keep it.
I pick it up tomorrow, first thing.

I am looking forward to this project big time.
I wanted a Cuda since I was a kid and have been looking for one in my price range and the details I have wanted for so long.

It will be the first Cuda build, but I have done a ton of old Jeep CJ's as practice, so we will see how it goes.
I know this is useless without pics, but I didn't bring my camera yesterday, it was kind of a last minute deal.

More to come, thanks for listening.

I am new to the Cuda world really... I have only looked from afar.
I am picking up the car tomorrow with a ton of parts.
There is a 383 motor in need of a rebuild there, a 727 I think that was in the corner that probably will need to be looked at.
From what I decoded it was factory a 71 Cuda w/ 383 4bbl.
It isn't the numbers matching block, but a date coded one from what the PO tells me.
The car itself is pretty solid, especially for up here in the NorthEast... it was originally a NC car from what all I can see through the documentation.

The best part is, I have always wanted a 71, but with the prices and the availability, I had been looking at 72-74 because I just couldn't find what I was looking for... this one is definitely a story of me being in the right place at the right time.  That said, it needs a ton of work, but it is what I want, so hopefully in a couple years, I will have her back together.

I learned about Jeeps on the Jeep forums over the past eight years or so, so now it is time to learn all I can about putting this one back together through forums like these.

I can't wait.

I didn't read that all the way... plans.
Well, the plans are to get the floors/trunk replaced, needs passenger side rear quarter work.
After that, plum crazy, billboards, shaker, already have a new grill, needs a trunk lid and finall a wing...

It was on a model kit that I saw in toys r us back in the day... I saw that car on the box and I wanted one like it when I "Grew up".  I am older, but I haven't grown up yet, so I figured if I can get even close to that car, I would be very happy.

It looks like this one
