4 speed conversion
« on: April 14, 2004 - 09:56:16 PM »
I've been reading the keisler/833 OD threads because I'm thinking about doing a 4 speed swap in my Cuda this summer.  I've ruled out the keisler because of price, but had not thought about the 833 OD as an option.  I'm planning on building a street/strip 440 6 pack car (mostly street) with around 500 HP.  What are the gear ratios of the regular 833 and the 833 OD?  Does the OD drop right in a Cuda or do you have to swap tailshafts?  What is the limit of a 23 spline trans?  Could I use a 23 spline without worrying about breaking it?  Also does anyone have experience with keisler's hydraulic clutch actuator kit?

the 833 OD is a bolt in IF it comes from a truck , you need to drill the 3 bolt holes to mount the shifter though , I feel the 833 is a stronger design than the tremec / Keisler box , I had a 23 spline in my Duster with 525 HP & ladderbars , I used to drop the clutch at 6000 rpm & pull the front wheels 2-3'
 OD ratois are 3.09-1st, 1.45-2nd , 1:1-3rd , .73-4th
 Std ratios are 2.65-1st, 1.91-2nd, 1.39-3rd, 1:1-4th
