I am employed again ... kind of
« on: September 20, 2008 - 10:35:20 PM »
The "what do you do for a living" thread reminded me to tell everyone that I have finally found a job of sorts. I'm freelancing for a company that's hiring out my talents to a large company which is creating training for another large company. (Both large companies shall remain nameless because this is, without a doubt, one of the worst jobs I've ever had, but it's paying the bills in the meantime. Still, I know in my heart that I'll be griping about it in the future  :swear:)

I'm still looking for other jobs, and I have a line of what will be the closest thing to my dream job I can imagine finding in North Carolina, but it's far from a done deal yet, so I won't mention that company either.

I celebrated my first paycheck today by going to a pick and pay and snagging some Magnum motor exhaust manifolds. I love it when I can amuse myself so cheaply

Well done David.   Glad to hear that there are checks comming in now. It may be a roundabout way of working but as you said, the bills are getting paid.  Good luck and it may prove more interesting than you think........

Congratulations, the bills always turn up even when you are not working, they seem to be larger and come more frequently also.   :2thumbs:

Glad you got your job.  I know what you mean I like to be amussed that way also.  I can hardly wait to get home and get started on my car.  Going to try to get some parts for my car if I can while I am over here.  Will just have the parts shipped to my house in the states.   Gordon
Got a pretty good start on my M46 optioned Barracuda restoration but now it is on hold till I can gather more funds.  Still need a few parts for it.  SIU Graduate 75 AAS Automotive Tech, 94 BS Advanced Tech Studies, 1997 MSED Workforce Education and Development

This thought may not be politically correct, but is an opinion offered. It may be correct? or it may be wrong? It is not designed to appease those needing shelter from the real world.

As you say, it might not be your dream job, but stay positive and use it as a stepping stone.

Excellent! It may not be ideal, but it gives you the flexibility to continue looking.

I think my ultimate job would be someone paying me 100k a year to work on my own junk.  Can't see that happening anytime soon, so I continue to work for other people who actually have money to pay me.
