1 year cancer free
« on: September 21, 2008 - 02:32:28 PM »
One year ago this week I had my cancerous prostate removed.  Since then all of my tests have shown me to be cancer free.  I jsut wanted to use this anniversary to remind all of you guys over 50 to have your prostate exams.  I know they are no fun, but if I hadn't had one I may have ended up like Ronnie Sox.  :angelwings:

Thank you for the inspiration Bill.  I know I should do it, did it once, hated it, haven't been back.
But I AM trying to convince myself I should go.

Congrats Bill.  :2thumbs:

It just goes to show how important routine exams are. My uncle is still going 1 year later also after being diagnosed with the same thing.

His spirit was broken when he found out I'm sure as you were at the time you found out. Now he's happier once again.

I gotta get one too.......like you, I did it once, didn't like it at all!!   :stomp:

It felt like the Doc was trying to get the last pickle out of the bottom of the pickle jar!
I feel like such a wimp when I look at what my wife has gone through - 2 kids, yearly exams, etc., etc.

Make ya a deal - next week we each make an appointment for exam.  Let's make this a group thing!!!

Hey fellow postie, that's just excellent news, good for you. Like they say it's one of the most curable ones if detected early enough. But it's that getting it detected part that's a bummer(sorry for the pun). Try having a 6 foot something Jamacian doctor with bear paws examine you. I've had 2 so far and like everyone else is dreading the next one.

Anyway, once again, congrats. No better way to head towards retirement than healthy.  :bananasmi   :clapping:

I`m due for more poking & prodding this year, all the joys of getting old.I hated the prostate exam also but the how would you guys like a male nurse to give you a catheter?Had to have one when I went back in for a staff infection after having back surgery and my luck the male nurse is on duty not a cute female!  :22yikes:  After a few of these procedures you just never like them but sort of get used to `em.
