70 Cuda 4 speed console
« on: September 22, 2008 - 09:26:56 AM »
I was installing the console back into the Cuda and found the front mounts don't line up.  The console was out of the car when I bought it.  The holes in the console are to far to the left and if I push the console over it hits the shifter boot.  The car does not appear to have been changed to a 4 speed since the tunnel looks original.  The back holes are fine.  Was there a bracket that mounted to the floor bracket and then to the console?  Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

There is a specific 4 speed console bracket, but save yourself the $50 or so and just use the two screws that go into the rear tunnel bracket, which you say are fine.  You might have to cut the front bracket off to eliminate any interference, but the 2 rear screws provide all the support you need.  I tell you this through experience because I just put my console back in a couple weeks ago using only the rear bracket, and it is just fine with no rattles or vibration, etc.

And also if the console you have is an automatic console, it will hit the boot and require triming to fit right

Thanks everyone.  The console I have is a 4 speed one it is just missing the bracket.  Does anyone have a picture of one, maybe I can make one.  The console will not hit the boot unless I try to align the holes in the console up with the welded bracket on the floor.  I will use the two in ther rear and go from there until then.  By the way, who sells the brackets.

Thanks,
Rob

This is what I had looked at when I was doing mine, but decided to save the money.

That is the mount I have welded to the floor of the car but the console does not line up with it.  The front is to far left and sits to high.

Thanks,
Rob

Topcat, polish that shifter. That is not how I picture anything you have or own. Show me a clean shiny pistol grip by Sunday to be back to good clean status.  If you dont, please send salmon jerky to 35055 asap

Actually Al,

You can thank Barry for these pics. I just happened to save the ones he sent me. I'm keeping a library so to speak of unique things on Hemi's and e bodies.

Salmon?...I sure miss hooking into them. DFG shut down the season. Probably will for 09' too.
This year was the first time I ever had to go buy them. I felt like less of a fisher (man) doing that.
Gotta go buy another one soon  :crying:...Thanksgiving.
