My vote is new. 30-40 year old metal just has to lose something over the years.

Just to confuse you I would go the other way, sort of.  My father-in-law recently bought a set of new MP XHD rear springs for his 66 Satellite, and they sat lower than the stock 40 year old springs, so he ditched those and had a local shop rebuild the originals.  They just took everything off but the main spring. and added new leafs.  They came with exactly the ride height he had specified.  If you do go with new, though, STAY AWAY FROM MOPAR PERFORMANCE SPRINGS, unless you are going with Super Stock, because you will be disappointed.  There is a thread on here from earlier this month that gets into those details.  Espo is one of the better new spring sources.

Yeah the MP springs are stiff but low.  Kind of good if you want to get the car to sit on the tires a bit.

Tom - You're dead on about stiff but riding low.  I put a set of the XHD on my 73 last year, and the thing is rock solid, but I had to go back to the air shocks to get the height that I wanted.  I'm going to be going with a 29" tire (hopefully for Christmas), and I need to lift the butt some (the car's too).  After I'm done paying for all the really want stuff, if there is anf cash left over I'm going to get a set of custom springs made.

I was able to fit the 29" tire in there but it was only a 255 not sure if a 275 would fit in there.  I had to jack up the car by the framerail to fit it hough, wouldn't go in when I had it up by the differential.
