Question for people out of the usa
« on: September 27, 2008 - 09:06:57 PM »
I was wondering if it is hard to get sae fraction thread size bolts and nuts in your country.  Is most of the stuff you use metric?  Are you able to get fraction sizes?  What about fraction tools?

In Norway, we use metric. By fraction tools, do you mean tools for the imperial system?
If so, no prob, we can get them too. At least in Oslo, at smaller places you might have to have them mailed to you, but it's doable.  :smokin:

Both here. I can't stand Imperial, such a random system. :lol2: Rather have it in mm, way easier all these fractions confuse the crap out of me, way easier to just say 14mm or 20mm instead of  9/16" or 13/16". Guess what ever you grow up with. I have both in the garage and both are available and easy to get.

the big problem in Canada is finding Phillips head screws , everything here is Robertson / square drive , we have to pay a premium to get phillips up here at all

It is cheaper to buy Metric nuts and bolts than it is Imperial nuts and bolts here in Australia.

getting tools is not a big problem here...  bolt and nuts are pretty hard to get.  most bolt suppliers stock them but will sell them by the box only.... need one, buy 200 pcs... :faint:

I know the difference between fraction and mm. but what is Imperial size stuff? Never heard of it.  I always assumed the metric system and fraction system.

:iagree: I know the differences and if I don't it isn't "too" hard to go find out but I just wonder with fraction everything. :clueless:
Just easier to have set measurement numbers from 0mm-100+mm not fractions or variations, 1 number = 1 number.

I really do not care which system is used , Metric or Imperial But just Pick one & use it , , all of the new cars seem to eb 1/2 & 1/2 so you have to have both sets of tools available all the time  :banghead:
