Numbers Matching Poll
« on: September 30, 2008 - 11:57:04 AM »
I know there are some variations, Like a numbers 440-6 would be worth more than a /6 numbers. SO for arguement, just assume whatever car you went to buy, there was 2 identical cars there, one numbers and one not and you can chose either one for a price
70 Barracuda Gran Coupe,383-4bbl,# Match
2012 Subaru Forester
70 D100 Adventurer 383 pickup
02 F250 S'cab Powerstroke 7.3 4x4 6 speed Manual
06 Honda VTX1800S Spec 3

My answer would be 0%, simply because if I were to buy a car today, it would be a car I am looking to turn into my own personal car, just like I did with my 73 Challenger.  The only type of car where numbers would interest me would be a TA/AAR, 440-6, or Hemi, which, of course, I could never afford in a million years anyway.

I think that you're on the right track.  If you have the opportunity to purchase a numbers matching car opposed to a non-matching, I would choose the matching one, of course.

My answer would be 0%,

Same for me; need a 0% response option in the poll. I buy a car to enjoy it and make it my own.

I'm happy the T/A is matching but I would of bought it anyway. The Road Runner and Duster are not and I don't care. At least without numbers matching I can have fun with them and not give it a second thought.  :2cents:

I have both. A #s 440ci R/T 70 Challenger and a custom non #s Hemi 'Cuda. I didn't vote as it all depends. I'm not one to say "never". It all depends on the situation, what the car is for or what my intentions are. I didn't know what numbers matching meant when I purchased my Challenger some 6 years ago. Luckily it turned out to be #'s. Always nice to know and to say it's how she rolled out of the assembly, it's interesting as others get more excited about it than me. I prefer #s but it all depends. I'd never own a #s Hemi even if I could afford it, pointless and just too rare. I'd rather build me (a better) one that I can actually enjoy. ;) You have to drive them. Pointless owning a dozen cars when all they do is collect dust. If that's the case they may as well be 1/18th scale. So, to sum up my boring drawn out answer, it depends. Never say never. I'm happy owning both. :2cents:

0%.  If I see one I can afford and I like it I would get it, regardless.  If it is numbers matching, that is a bonus!

Most likely a numbers matching to collect. But for fun ... it would not matter for me.
I guess it all depends on the price.

I'd say zero aswell.

I had trouble in a different sense buying my 70 barracuda. I didnt even realize it was a quarter scoop m46 car at first. I bought it as is and started building it for my fun car since it was a 318 and missing engine. But then Barry pointed out to me it was my 2nd M46 barracuda I had found, I decided that I had to keep the body and interior original. I kept the 4 speed but replaced the 318 with a 440-6 and a dana 60.

So in my eyes, the engine didnt matter but the rest of the car did. Just to keep it up in the registry.  I never bought any car for resale value, so I never have worried about numbers matching. I am in fact looking for a 8/69 318 to put the car back as it was sometime in the future. More for fuel mileage and rarity

:iagree: with Alan as i am in the same boat in regards to car.  Building it as my own but am more than happy with its original color combo options and have no original engine, so i will build something stout for it for now......
