Installing a new headliner !
« on: September 30, 2008 - 12:47:12 PM »
I am in the process of installing a new headliner..  I took the old one out a while ago and I only could find 1 of the hooks that hold the rear bow in place.....    Do you think it would be okay to just use 1 hook (wire) or should I make one or order one?????  I don't even know if they can be bought.....

Thanks..........................

Since you have one it shouldn't be to hard to make another one to match out of an old coat hanger.

From what I understand getting these things stretched properly is a pain.Given that, I'd make sure that I had either the original or some good substitute there.

I don't believe the wires are that critical. My car was originally a Gran Coupe with the hardboard headliner and it was trashed. I got the bows and clips and a new cloth headliner and put it in myself. It came out great. Thing is, I didn't even know that there was supposed to be any wire clips in the back, so I didn't use any! The things you get away with due to lack of knowledge!!!  :smilielol:

Mine have paint dots on them which denote where they go, but I don't recall the order.

There are two that have red & orange, & they are the same size, they go in the front...  The largest one goes in the back.. The paint had worn off of the other 2 but I just attempted to fit before installing,,,  If you search "headliner" in this section there is a post that lists the correct order..................
