My '71 (build date 4/14/71) came with a fixed mast antenna.  It sure looks original.

My car was owned since it was one year old in my family. 71 Barracuda Gran Coupe.
It has a fixed mast antenna.

Well, I love him to bits, but some days my dad does not remember what he had for dinner the day before.
(no reflection on your dad at all, but mine is OLD)

I have been wrong in the past, I am sure I will be wrong again in the future. I may be wrong now.

But, from everything I have here at my disposal right now, nothing suggests that a fixed mast antenna was available in 1970 on any of our cars.

I read everything I can find on these cars. If someone, anyone has something that does not agree with the exhibits I posted, I would LOVE to see it.

I am not afraid of being wrong, not ever. So, please post up if anyone here has anything new at all on the subject to show us?  :dunno:

I have learned a lot from being proved wrong over the years. No one is too old to be corrected if the data exists........
Barry, not saying your wrong at all, hope you know that. i value your word and experience. I am all of 24 so i only know what has been passed to me. i thought that maybe it was one of those things where they might have grabbed one off the charger line or something. mine is a 69 build date so who knows. My dad is 51, but that is still young apparently because this past July he gave me another baby sister so.....  :misbehaving:

I've owned my car since '76 and the antenna on it is extendable, I guess I can't guarantee it is original but car seemed to be unmolested at that time. If you want dimensions and part #'s off of it let me know. Pete

My 70 barracuda was extendable but broken. I got a solid mast off a 72 and screwed it into place.

Thanks for the input everyone. My car is not 100% correct anyway so I will probably just go with the fixed mast that was on the car when I got it in 80. I think I like the look a little better.

Does anyone know if there is a way to get a mounting collar without purchasing a complete antenna assy?

My '71 also has a fixed mast that looks very original. Apparently a whole bunch of people with E-bodies swapped their retractable antennas for fixed ones that didn't come with the cars.  :clueless:

to my understanding AM radios had the solid mast and the AM/FM had the extendable,. I do have antenna kits and parts in stock from metro if needed

Dave,
My car was owned since it was one year old in my family. 71 Barracuda Gran Coupe.  was equipped with AM/FM thumbwheel, solid mast antenna. Is it the other way around? AM had the extendable?
