MAS RACING WARNING

I don't know whether these guys sell on ebay or not but I didn't see any other appropriate place to post this.  I just wanted to let everyone know about my experience with MAS Racing.  I ordered two items from them, a Hemidart style hood scoop and a Challenger T/A style spoiler.  The scoop had a decent finish on the outside but was rough and damaged like they had dropped it on concrete or something.  The metal mounting brackets were not flush with the mounting surface, and were not even level with each other.  The spoiler was warped, had no real finish on it, had gouges throughout the surface of it, and did would not have fit a Challenger trunk lid without modification.  On top of that, the spoiler showed up a week and a half late because it was "backordered" and they never told me.  I returned the spoiler, paying shipping on my own.  A week after it had arrived I had not heard anything I called them.  They first said they had not received it, then when I had the tracking number they said they had received it and told me they would call me back.  Another week went by and still no refund.  After another few calls, they finally refunded my money but charged a 20% restocking fee!!  Nowhere on their website did it discuss a restocking fee.  So now I paid $69 for the spoiler, $45 shipping (both ways) waited a month, made 8 phone calls to them, and only got $55 back, all for an unusable product anyway.  That was my experience with MAS Racing so if you ever think about doing business with them, please be warned!

Well, if their terms and conditions did not mention a restock fee then I would not pay for it. Dispute it on your credit card. I would have hoped you called them first to tell them you were unhappy with the product and wanted to send it back? My experience with fiberglass products is that you are buying the rough shape of what you want and it is upto you to finish it out and make it fit.

I have been to there store and have noticed there fiberglass stuff is not that good.  any of there mechanical stuff in take carbs bolts etc is better.

Yes, I did call them saying I wanted to return it but they did not mention their restocking fee then either.  When I called to complain about it, they said it was on the invoice.  I never got as far as looking at the invoice.  I pulled the item out of the box, set it on the car, realized it would probably be easier to make one from scratch than to make theirs decent, and put it back in the box.  Even if it is on the invoice, you can't know about their policy until after you have already purchased something.  This was the first time I purchased any fiberglass parts and I expect some minor finish work but not to have to redesign the product.  I kept the scoop because I knew I would have to modify that since it was not intended for a Challenger, and because it would have cost almost as much to ship it back as I paid for it.  Anyway, just wanted to let everyone know how difficult I found them to work with and how unsatisfied I was so that no one else gets burned, at least not without warning!

dispute it through your c.c.! call your c.c. and tell them you didn't authorize it. thats assuming none of the issues are in black and white where you can read it terms wise.

You get what you pay for. The MAS fiberglass is dirt cheap compared to all the others.

Unfortunately I used a debit card and the original charge included two items, I only sent one back, and since they took so long to get my money back to me it has been almost 2 months since the original charge.  Unfortunately I am very busy and even if I thought I would get my money back, this just isn't worth any more of my time for the $15 "restocking" fee.  I fully understand that you get what you pay for, and I certainly wasn't expecting a show piece I could pull out of the box, bolt on and go, but I expected it to be at least usable like the scoop was, and actually fit the stated application.  It took an afternoon of modification to the scoop but I got it usable.  It just wasn't going to happen with the spoiler.  I guess anymore you have to either grill the salespeople about their products AND policies or just be willing to take your chances and throw money away every now and then when you get burned.

Sadly this is very true in the case of MAS. I've seen it and said it around the web for years; Showcars is the worst fiberglass supplier on the planet, MAS is next, then Unlimited. These are the bottom tier of fiberglass suppliers. Just because they throw advertising dollars into magazines doesn't guarantee they are any good.

Since you sent the spoiler back you probably didn't get a chance to notice the lag bolts they sent to attach it with.

Actually that was one of the reasons I sent it back, there was no hardware nor mounting provisions included.  Maybe they expected me to duct tape it on?

I agree 100%!! I bought a rear spolier for a Cuda a few years back and it was not even close to fitting correctly . The best part was the four sheet metal screws that came with it (mounting hardware). MAS is not even worth the paper their add is printed on!!

Welcome to the "Burned by MAS Racing" club. I ordered the same T/A spoiler from them - what a piece of junk.

They have been around for years, and have always had poor craftsmanship on their fiberglass products. Sorry to hear you got screwed. Thanks for posting, so others will know better.
